Anxiety is persistent, whereas fear is typically dissolved after the perceived threat is gone; anxiety can linger and remain, causing issues with both physical and mental well-being if left unattended.

Psychology major here!
So they have a lot of overlap, and anxiety can translate into an overarching fear; vice versa.
Essentially the core difference would be that anxiety is the state of worry about something that could happen, whereas fear is related more towards an event actively taking place.
