The emails will continue until morale improves.

All federal employees must respond to an email from a Nigerian prince with their bank account number or risk being terminated.

The #VultureCapitalists are doing a hostile takeover so they can sell it off for parts.

Responding to what he calls the Trump admin’s “cruelty” toward fired fed workers, Md. @govwesmoore.bsky.social said he's looking to tap into the pool of skilled, displaced employees to fill open state jobs. w/ @pwoodreporter.bsky.social 📸 @jessicagallagher.bsky.social tinyurl.com/9uvfue3b

I spoke with a hurricane modeler who was just fired from the branch of NOAA that keeps weather models running. He got a form letter like hundreds of others telling him he was losing his job in an hour. This bodes very poorly for American forecasting. Gift link: www.theatlantic.com/science/arch...

A statement I must make:

Something that deserves recognition: At federal labs such as NOAA’s NSSL, ESRL, or EMC, most employees are first hired on as contractors through a company or cooperative institute. After several years, many get “promoted” by being hired as Feds. These are the “probationary employees” getting fired

NOAA Cuts Leave Wind Chimes As Sole Predictor Of Approaching Hurricanes

Needing more attention (IMO) is the impact to NWS and NOS systems maintenance. Radars, ASOS, upper air, ocean buoys, tide gauges and a myriad of other data collection efforts require frequent work just to stay functional. Outages and extended downtime will accumulate with cascading impacts. #NOAA

California’s snowpack is below average in the central and southern Sierra Nevada. Across the mountain range, the snowpack now measures 85% of average for this time of year. @sean-greene.bsky.social www.latimes.com/environment/...

Governance is REALITY, not an effing TV SHOW.

A weather post: The SPC has identified the severe weather potential for Tuesday in the lower MS Valley. A very diffluent flow out of the jet streak rounding the negatively tilted, but cut off, trough. A strong low-level jet even in mid-afternoon. Moisture suggests a very mature cyclone look.

Tornado & Hail season Heat & Thunderstorm Wind season Hurricane season Freezing Rain and Lake Effect Snow season Blizzard and Cold season Flood and Fire and Drought all year There is never a good season to fire NWS forecasters.

Speak up!

My friends Mallory and Larissa were shining examples of hard working, focused, and talented scientists and developers that worked to make our numerical modeling capabilities better. Those efforts have direct impact on the forecasters that use those models. Today is a tragedy.

The final AFD (area forecast discussion) from a #NWS/#NOAA meteorologist. This is just 1 example of the deep experience, dedication, and loyalty the gov. wreckers are destroying. "It takes a skilled carpenter to build a barn, but any jackass can kick it down." forecast.weather.gov/product.php?...

This article on beach erosion and property loss in Massachusetts does an amazing job never mentioning the phrase “sea-level rise” even once.

There is a new study out in Nature about the Atlantic overturning circulation. I will be curious to see the media reporting on this. If you wonder why, read my blog article on it! 🌊 www.realclimate.org/index.php/ar...

Today vs. yesterday on Reunion webcam as Cyclone #Garance made first hurricane landfall on the island since 1989

these terminations are good evidence that this is just wanton destruction by deranged ideologues. there is no rhyme or reason other than whatever makes sense to a bunch of zoomer nazis and their bosses and enablers

I have called all of my representatives and I suggest you do the same. NWS staff cuts will lead to our people and economy being harmed. No question.

Pay now or pay much more later.

What do better hurricane track forecasts mean? In 1999, Major Hurricane Floyd threatened Florida. The forecast showed the storm remaining east of Florida, but given the large track forecast errors in 1999, a major hurricane landfall on the east coast of Florida was still possible

Hey, tornado alley, you voted for this.

What is NOAA? Federal weather, climate agency hit with job cuts has a big mission. www.usatoday.com/story/news/n...

🚨 #NOAA is essential for weather forecasting, climate research, and public safety. AGU stands with the scientific community in urging Congress to protect and strengthen NOAA, not dismantle it. Our economy, environment, and safety depend on it.

Every local meteorologist should be telling their viewers why it’s a terrible idea to fire a bunch of the people who provide the data so they can tell you if it’s going to snow or have a tornado tomorrow.

I'm a pilot with engineering Ph.D., worked in both airline and tech industries. I can say there is absolutely zero chance, given the timing of the switch, that FAA had done any review to make the decision based on merits. I hope Verizon sue the hell out of it.
