Happy to see justice done for one of #lafayettela's #library advocates, though it's ridiculous he's had to live under the shadow of this unlawful arrest for three years. And yes, Robert Judge remains on the board. www.theadvocate.com/acadiana/new...

It’s difficult to overstate the misogyny driving this administration. Histories of sexual assault among the staff are a feature not a bug for a reason.

This is what revisionist history looks like, in real time. And this also is why it might appear that archaeologists and historians have to dig deep to discover the existence of powerful women and marginalized groups -- because their legacies are so often erased.

Mind-boggling wreckage. Among the lifesaving programs now disrupted by Elon’s attack on @USAID: phase 1 trials for a possible HIV vaccine.

look I’m no messaging expert but it seems like the American people might be interested to know that Donald Trump just gave our social security numbers to a teen called BigBalls

Congressional Democrats should remember that their base will absolutely hold them accountable for their inaction right now, while the slim slice of voters who actually care about “reaching across the aisle” won’t pay attention to the news until October 2026 at the earliest

It’s now the official policy of the US government to wage a trade war against Canada until it can be annexed www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2025/02/its-...

Short 🧵: We're all on here freaking the fuck out about the active & ongoing takeover of our government, and yeah, I get it, this is way worse than even WE thought it would be.

Last week the Montgomery County (TX) Commissioners Court voted to place an elected county judge - Mark Keough- in charge of the public library system. Keough immediately terminated the Library Director Rhea Young. www.txftrp.org/politics_abo...

🧵: I count myself among those frustrated with congressional Democrats’ inaction, but not because they aren’t using their parliamentary tools. Those tools have limited value. Using them without effect may only reinforce their official powerlessness. 1/10

I'll admit I didn't have "Park Rangers leading the resistance" on my 2025 bingo card, but I'm 100% here for it. If you aren't following this account, you should be.

Yes. I see this every day.

Local far-right take an L in Louisiana, after the entirety of a extremist-led library board was fired! The parish council was tired of the controversy, so canned ‘em. There wouldn’t be a “controversy” if local folks weren’t showing up and raising hell over their book ban attempts! (Short 🧵 )

As an advocate for #libraries and a defender of #books, I can tell you this work is hard. There are days when I question what the hell I'm doing; when I'm staring down the windmill & my work seems pointless. Then I remember what's at stake.🧵

Jim Acosta announces on air that he's leaving CNN and says, "it is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant ... don't give in to the lies."

Pin this, save it, we’ll need it. “When a prison camp opens in your town…when a DREAMer is disappeared from your classroom…when the President destroys what’s left of the Constitution…They will all say they didn’t know this was coming. And I want the American people to know that they did.” AOC 🔥🎯

This is obscene.

Color me surprised - Landry and the legislature gave corporations big tax cuts and passed that burden along to us. When are people going to wake up and realize Republicans are lying when they say they will cut our taxes?? This is nothing but a shell game, and we lose every time.

Gov. Jeff Landry will tell you he hasn't raised taxes. That's not true.

Ate lunch today while listening to @annaleen.bsky.social and @charliejane.bsky.social talk about libraries on an episode of @ouropinions.bsky.social, then chat with @kyliu99.bsky.social about translation. An aural feast as tasty as what was on my plate! www.ouropinionsarecorrect.com/shownotes/20...

It's so weird that in the end Twitter became state media

I started a new short story today, the first in at least a couple of years. It felt...really good to be back at the work I love. I've missed it terribly.

I'm so tired of our council allowing these people to run our library.

"Instead of destroying such precious community resources, we should be protecting them with legislation that ensures the freedom to read for all." Thanks to The Advocate for publishing my letter! www.nola.com/letters-loui...

this choice of photos by the Carter Center is shadier than a Georgia peach tree in summer

“Lynette Mejía, executive director of @la-cac.org, says one of the benefits of building a coalition is that when there is a fight, everyone is aligned.” @slj.com www.slj.com/story/Librar...

It appears Musk came to US on a student visa, did not attend school and worked illegally here. If he lied in his subsequent immigration applications he committed a felony level crime and could be stripped of his citizenship and security clearances. Musk's brother: "We were illegal immigrants."

It was never about the price of eggs, it was all about racism.

I’ve heard tell that women are too emotional for politics.

This is incredibly important for #freadom in LA & across the country. #librarians have faced unimaginable threats & harassment simply for doing their jobs. We should all be outraged by these attacks on the people who make #libraries such wonderful spaces.

This is in response to the deleted thread by Jael Holzman thread. I get the whole, "Politicians don't like angry constituents" thing. I know because I was part of a community effort that leaned into "Pissing off politicians doing bad things" 1/

What could possibly go wrong.

In the process of leaving the cesspool that Twitter has become. Onward and upward.
