@hacks4pancakes.com So just to let you know what I've been up to since we last talked elsewhere I've been reversing DRM to learn more advanced reversing, scripting with Python and coding with C++/C#. 😊

This is, sadly, an inevitable effect of ADHD. A bunch of processing ends up running through a far slower path in the brain, requires conscious effort when it would be be autonomous in a neurotypical person, and is very tiring.

@rya.nc what you're doing looks fun. Sadly I don't have the dexterity to access the hardware but am reversing a quite provocatively protected piece of software at the moment. Need to get some automation in: huge time sink.

Not knowing how COBOL works is one thing, I haven't a clue. Failing to notice all these were the same date is another. Sloppy and inattentive, no wonder there's such desperation to keep this out of public view. Looks a lot like an excuse to get access to data they shouldn't have to be honest.

It's been fun watching the LinkedIn cybersecurity gatekeeper crowd rapidly pivot from "you're not qualified to work in cybersecurity if you don't have a degree and certifications" to "actually, I think a 25 year old coder is perfectly qualified to perform a financial audit of the federal gov".

#Denuvo VM as used in a pretty recent patch of a game analysed. It's genuinely interesting how it deviates from the regular 'interpreter' model. The set up code is entirely using pre-calculated and pre-interpreted code. No byte code interpretation at all, jump table.

@dachsjaeger.bsky.social Believe the preview copies of FF7 Rebirth had #Denuvo on them for obvious reasons. The retail doesn't seem to. If it was badly integrated might explain some issues. We'll see shortly!
