I guess it’s good to know that the next Democratic president can ship Trump and his cabinet off to a Central American prison without a trial and we won’t ever have to worry about them coming back.

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

important context about the concentration camps in el salvador:

I used to select Dem primary candidates based on policy. Now I will aggressively try to destroy any Dem who says "we need to look forward not backward" and fervently support anyone who says "I will see these motherfuckers prosecuted and jailed if it's the last thing I do."

I genuinely don't understand how anyone can look at the current moment and think "Abolish ICE" was anything but completely correct. ICE cannot and should not exist. Period.

The question of if a country could fuck itself harder than the UK did with Brexit has today been answered.

We need every branded account to start developing crass strategies for bullying Elon Musk for easy clout. Chum the water. I don’t approve of brands but if the Charmin account tells him to put a gun in his mouth and that’s the thing that does it I’m exclusively buying that toilet paper for life.

Going to share this absolutely CRUCIAL resource for people who want to create local ICE Watch Rapid Resource Teams. Head over to defendandrecruit.org, where you’ll find resources put together by Siembra NC. This includes an entire playbook on how to defend your community.

No matter your station in life, there is astoundingly little separating you from those men in that cage behind Kristi Noem. No charges, no attorneys, no hearings, no trial. Just conjecture and brute force could be enough to justify completely dehumanizing you, too.

The masses are rushing, running, charging through the age. They think they are advancing, but they are simply running on the spot and falling into the void, that is all. - Franz Kafka, woke on the 21st century

It should be a source of profound embarrassment that a bunch of FedSoc lifers are taking a more vocal and principled stand against the corrupt Eric Adams deal than most elected Dems.

Newsletter: The tech industry has turned on the consumer, using abusive, manipulative software as a means of extracting wealth from every corner of our lives. Both society and the tech media must fight back, as I believe many of us deeply love our tech. www.wheresyoured.at/what-were-fighting-for/

One thing for Senate Democrats to do is announce they will use every tool at their disposal to block Bondi’s nomination until DOJ appoints a special counsel (ideally with beefed up firing protections) to investigate the widely reported crimes committed this week by Musk and his band of DOGE goons.

I was led to believe by R.E.M. that I would feel a lot better about this.

This may sound primitive and unscientific, but through the fairies, we COULD ask Mothra for help

Democrats should be talking about The Cruz rule “When a president can pick and choose which laws to follow and which to ignore, he is no longer a president.”

remember that when you yell at gen x you’re yelling at her

@ocasio-cortez.house.gov

any platform with a proprietary black box algorithm is a publisher, period. Zuck should be able to be sued en masse by the families of the hundreds of thousands killed through his products

Democrats who want to be relevant and have a future with the party, look at AOC, Jamie Raskin, Jasmine Crockett, Senators Van Hollen and even Murphy right now. They're the ones calling it out, refusing to bend the knee, and reflecting the righteous anger of America against the broligarchy.

“When college students protest to end genocide, the ADL calls for militarized police across campuses. When the richest man in the world gives a nazi salute on national television, they tell everyone to calm down.”

Hmmm seems like someone should win the presidency promising those things so someone will write about it

The amount of goodwill that Dems — not newspapers, not college presidents, specifically Dems — threw away after late 2023 because “kids wrong about Palestine” really deserves a full accounting.

If you live in an abortion-restricted state, order your abortion pills now. PlanCPill.org will direct you to a provider who delivers to your state. If you live in Texas, you'll need to go through AidAccess.org. Legal jeopardy is on the provider, not the recipient--for now. So order them now.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it, don't wait for it, just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair or two cups of good hot black coffee.

Going from Lloyd Austin (4-star general, Army Dep. Chief of Staff, top commander in Iraq, head of CENTCOM) to Pete Hegseth (was in National Guard years ago, pushed out of veterans group for misconduct, championed convicted war criminals on TV) really highlights what the right means by "DEI hire."

"Democrats need a message as straightforward as it is loud. Unemployment up? Trump’s fault. House prices too high? Trump’s fault. Groceries too expensive? Trump’s fault. The man who wants credit for everything must be blamed for everything." James is right, Dems need to be ready to say this stuff:

Whenever I mention organizing someone invariably says how difficult it is to get people to take any action and I know, please trust that I know. We still have to organize to transform our current condition.

I don't really use TikTok that much, but I find it fascinating that our government is on the verge of banning an app for national security reasons that are still unclear in the same week that Meta, the largest social media company, says it's now fine to hate LGBTQ people and call us mentally ill.

english peasant turned longbow-man at agincourt, walking over 6,000 dead french aristocrats: yeah this is probably the funniest thing that's ever happened

republicans immediately blamed the fire on democratic environmental policy and leadership. democrats have not said anything about the fire's connection to years of gop climate denialism. this is kind of a fundamental difference to how both sides approach politics.

Still wild to me that so many "savvy" folks on left and right have bought into the idea that online misinformation is overblown and doesn't really matter. From lies about migrants to transgender people to crime to election denial to climate denial, it's literally driving our country's politics.

The fact that this doesn't include the firing of June Clarkson and Theresa Edwards, the only high-level prosecutors looking into the mass production of false documents in foreclosures, shows again how the loss of homes for 10 million families has just been deleted from memory

ABC, NBC & CBS dedicated about 16 minutes of airtime last night to the California wildfires without once mentioning climate change. Since the news failed do it's job, here's a short summary of the role of climate change and wildfire risk: www.noaa.gov/noaa-wildfir...

I think antitrust is not enough to deal with the tech industry. We need - and I know this era isn't one where we get it - a digital EPA, with quality standards for apps/digital services with personal liability for executives and real, meaningful mechanisms to force companies to stop hurting people.

No fucking shit.

Look, we can disagree about the methods and motivations of the January 6th rioters. But when you strip away the rhetoric and the politics, it's pretty clear that deep down, in their heart of hearts, they are a bunch of stupid fucking douchebags.
