English tennis player playing at Queens with a cap on backwards right now. Horrific. Say what you will about the dark days of Tim Henman but at least he knew his place

Hate maths with a passion but the square root symbol absolutely pops off. A little roof for the numbers? Pure class. Plus and minus found rotting

The hill I'll die on, that the universally accepted usage "Me and [ x ] did bla bla" is not just ungrammatical but SO RUDE, is so fussy and pedantic and constantly defeated by everybody that it even annoys me, but I stand by it! Don't be rude!

It's easy to forget now but we had decades of steady advancement on trans rights. The 2016 bathroom bills invited huge backlash! It was only after the media constructed sports and youth medications as 'debates' that opposition moved from the far right to the polite center.

Newcastle, England — Elliott Erwitt, 1969

Somebody calls me young online. That very second a large G is projected into the sky above North London, where Guy Lodge is attending a drinks event. Noticing the signal out of the corner of his eye he discreetly excuses himself, and speeds off to his lair. "Albert, fire up Bluesky!" he orders

Ha ha, god he's so fucking useless. Biggest bedshitter in my lifetime

Cheek to Cheek just came on, and the bit where Ella Fitzgerald goes, "I like to go out fishing, in a river or a creek" got me thinking... I don't think I've*ever* seen a woman fishing, either irl or in a film. Anyone?

Really thought I'd let enough time elapse for this bit

You never hear anybody ordering a "frappuccino" anymore, do you. Whither our joy?

Paddington, the celebrity grim reaper, claims another victim. Never think you can escape his clutch... the bear comes for everyone.

Kathleen Stock turning into a firebreathing anti-choice campaigner is one of those things that was in retrospect both entirely predictable but is also just so funny to witness

Just mad that this is the news. That bracket. How can we even compute this insanity, this stupidity

11yo just told me he's writing a book called Comedy For Beginners. I thought it was a brilliant title for a novel, imagining a glittering satire of modern mores, but it turns out it's quite literally a guide to comedy for beginners

Israel kills 45 in latest shooting of Gazans seeking food, say local officials https://on.ft.com/4kMZ2EB

Seems like an overreaction

I've said it many times before and Andrew Cuomo is making me say it again: we don't have a cancellation problem. We have never had a cancellation problem. To the contrary, we have a problem that "disgrace" is a very temporary embarrassment— an brief entr'acte more than an intermission.

Luring starving people out into the open with the promise of food and then gunning them down in cold blood. We have a word for this and we should start using it. The word is "evil".

I watched FACES by Cassavetes last night and this is only a minor complaint, but every main character's age was off by a decade?! John Marley is supposed to be 48 I think (?) but was 61, Gena Rowlands is 38 playing 28, Seymour Cassel is 33 playing 23, and Lynn Carlin, alone, was aged up 10-15 years.

[Hadley Freeman voice] But then again, what would you do in Israel's place? Let a boat just arrive in Gaza with food?
