Still thinking about this quote from a writer at NYT who said she "can't quite say [Trump's attacks on trans people are] exactly consequential, since so few lives are materially affected." There are an estimated 1.3 million trans adults in the U.S. That's equal to the population of Dallas, TX.

It's crazy how many mega viral posts (>400k likes) on Twitter are cheering on violence against Elon. It's not just subtle references but memes with a gun aimed at Elon. I've never seen a user base wishing the death of the owner of a website with such intensity like this.

How are people still arguing for tactical retreats on trans sports or treatment of minors when it’s the official position of the government that there’s no such thing as trans people, you are the only ones negotiating on this

In a leaked recording, State Senator Elena Parent (D-42) said she’d vote for Republican transgender healthcare bans because trans rights are too “unpopular." "You can go right to heck. I don’t think I will lose re-election based on you screaming at me"

This is the most wretched campaign of deliberate, explicit persecution the United States has perpetrated against a minority group in decades. Many of the most important people in politics and journalism are busying themselves trying to figure out how little to say or do about it.

I’m pretty sure this is what voters want from their elected officials www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

“You have been asleep since November,” said Frog. “Well then,” said Toad, “a little more sleep will not hurt me.”

Being trans in the US is watching your community be genocided in slow motion as the media bounces between cheering it on and denying it, and elected Dems say they can't defend you because you cost them too many votes, and leftists say you divide the working class so they won't defend you either.

A German word for being embarrassed by the actions of someone else is Fremdscham, or “foreign shame.” A similar word from Icelandic is aulahrollur, which is quite tricky to translate but basically means something along the lines of “cringe quake” or “douchebag chills”

If you’re a queer author who writes contemporary romance, speculative fiction, and or poetry, I would love to connect and feature you in my newsletter. Please reach out via the contact form on my website: tendingverses.com #Authors #WritingCommunity

“Transgender people need champions and voices and not people voting against people because they’re afraid—they need somebody willing to take it on the chin, and I’m willing to do that,” Iowa State Sen. Tony Bisignano told me. www.advocate.com/politics/ton...

Your daily reminder that writing love poems and paying deep attention to language is inherently anti-fascist.

There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵

We hope you’ll buy our books. But maybe not tomorrow!

One of my favorite things about Bluesky (or at least my little corner of it) is that people are always sharing resources for taking action. So here's a pinned thread collecting those resources, some made by me and some made by others.

Rip! I was hoping she'd show up in the reboot.....

It’s not that we didn’t exist, it’s that they wrote us out of hx.

LGBTQ federal workers say they're terrified they're about to be fired for their gender identity, sexual orientation, or past efforts to support other queer and trans employees—in other words, a second Lavender Scare. Honored to have their trust with this story: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

1. Alabama, in a rush to pass an anti-trans law defining sex, may have also just formally greenlit sex-based segregation in many settings. The law, recently signed, ends legal recognition of transgender people. The latest from S. Baum. Subscribe to support our journalism.

NEW: On Section 504. "Attacks on any one group will be used as a wedge to attack all of us. You may not personally know any trans people, and you may even be uncomfortable with the idea ... but letting this attack go forward will eventually hurt you and the things you love, too." /1

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.

Google enables marketers to target people with serious illnesses and crushing debt—against its policies—as well as the makers of classified defense technology, a WIRED investigation has found.
