Something pretty amazing happened to a character towards the end of 𝘖𝘶𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘖𝘻 by Gregory Maguire. I don't remember the last time I cried when something happened to a book character, particularly something good (which is sadly rare in a bleak AF Maguire book).
