Missing the time when I didn't have to pay attention to politics. Now, with a little one, and needing healthcare for my family, education for said kidlet and, you know, wanting to keep human rights for all - I'm all in on politics. πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆπŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦β™€οΈ

I'm surprised they don't tell the press to title him 'award winning Ontario Chief Medical Officer'. So sad πŸ’”

Maybe they delay to keep numbers down. 😞 <double sigh> This was posted 2 days ago - still no date. www.railway.supply/en/canada-st...

Glad you enjoyed 'The Scottish Play'! (Hope you didn't post this from in the theatre. Does the curse work through text? 😬)

Ford thinks he has a mandate to 'do things'. He has a mandate to keep things as they are - that's why people voted for him ... again! πŸ˜” Good luck NDP!!

I only keep it for Cdn news, specifically provincial. But I try not to pay attention to your list at all. They're too much for me. The news is bad enough thanks to Ford. πŸ˜” (but it is such a cesspool of anger and violence).

Depends on the toy. ❀️
comment in response to post
For sure - for a small party that can be fun and they can all play with the gifts (but for the cash πŸ˜‰). Trying to keep 8 (or more) kids under 5 still long enough to see toys they won't probably get to play with can be tough.

That's great for u. We got a science kit once (plaster cast your hand) - it was donated. And my little is a no on most art and kits get donated there too. We gave a gift cert for a kid's climbing gym - his Dad had to explain what it was. Not sure the kid is too thrilled. To each their own. 😊

My kid had that once too. The other was so excited to give him a Pokemon and he wanted to chat about it. It was so sweet (but done kinda quietly as the other kids ran off their cupcakes). ❀️

If u can get back to your car somehow, you should hop on a train and interview some folks there. There might be some taking their kids around thanks to the Canada Strong pass (eventually) and the response might be interesting. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Now - is it presents at the party or at home? As my little is neurodivergent, when we went to a party that just took the gifts home, we were amazed we could do that. It doesn't slow down the vibes and, if there's something we don't like, our poor poker faces don't upset anyone.

Via mentioned it on their website when I was looking for train trip in August but there's no sign of it now on the main page. Reddit randoms say it will launch in June. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

Based on current politics in the States (and the lack of knowledge of it's leaders, especially for HHS), do you think there will ever be a point when the rest of the world stops following the directions of the CDC?

What if he becomes President?!? 😬

πŸ’” I'm keeping an eye on how your new policies will filter to us but feel for you that have to deal with them. Sadly, those Cdns don't pay attention to what's happening. They feel their lives are miserable everyday already, not seeing how gov't helps them. Stay strong, stay safe, fight where u can!

You're welcome. We dodged the bullet ... for now ... and by the skin of out teeth. 😬 My heart hurts to see what's going on in the US. πŸ’”

Some are like Republicans - 'my Daddy voted Conservative therefore I AM Conservative.' Lots don't like 'woke' (poc or lgbtq+) and don't want progress. And, yes, social media and some churches are echo chambers of the right's lies. Tribalism - friends/fam want the blue 'team' to dominate. πŸ˜”

I'm worried πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ follows the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ path eventually. Tariffs are hitting us. Prices are up, on foreign and domestic things (cause why not?). Jobs are being lost. With that, crime will rise. Our recently elected left-leaning gov't will be blamed. Next election, the right come into power because 'change'. 😑

You have one of those kids in your town right now!?!? Send him to DC!! Sorry - politely encourage him to travel to DC.

Thank you for posting this. I'm trying to wrap my head around how I can help locally and how we can, as citizens, disrupt misinformation so we don't have such a nail-biter election where both sides believe the same scary outcome no matter who is elected.

That's exactly what I'm seeing on FB groups too. πŸ’” As Carney and his party can't put the genie back in (they're busy and would be labelled a censoring gov't) I'm trying to figure out how indiv. citizens can tackle this. πŸ€” Cochrane pushed back on Scheer on CBC - looked like a good start maybe?

I love your posts. I'm sorry I don't interact much - at the moment, I'm still recovering from our election in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦. Glad for our PM but sad ppl still won't hear truth. I'm nervous about the πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ-πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ deal just signed too. Now my provincial gov't want judges to obey the gov't's wishes, trampling on rights. 😞

Do you think he's trying to sound American to get those calling him a liberal back on his side before he goes for national leadership? Knowing that Carney would (hopefully) step in to say something and stop him, then he can point his finger and say 'the big, bad PM wouldn't let me'.
comment in response to post
37 days but the gentleman who unseated the Conservative leader is @brucefanjoy.bsky.social and he worked tirelessly knocking on doors and talking to people for at least 2 years, before he was even a candidate. He had his heart and head in the game for awhile. He's a πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ hero!

Have you seen the comments on Ford's tweet congratulating Carney? In ppl's eyes, Ford's a liberal now. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

They were told the same thing we knew - the PM of the opposing party was going to let us become the 51st State. They're scared now. That projection thing the orange guy does was the same playbook here. We citizens need to do something about our media, somehow, and within the next year or two. πŸ’ͺπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

Cons are scared that their world is ending (as was I should Cons win). I'm trying to figure out where they got this feeling - any ideas on how to bring fact back to Canadian media? πŸ’ͺπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

One was a mom who shrugged her shoulders at fascist flags during the convoy. I figure her church radicalized her (people forget PP was campaigning in churches). 3 kids that will potentially grow up with that hate and prejudice too. πŸ’”
comment in response to post
I always wondered who were the ones that went along with fascism - now I don't. 😞 I questioned a pro-PP post and they called me rude and became victims. There was no defence of their choice - just a pure emotionally angry response. They'd be members of a Cdn ICE if given the chance. πŸ’”

Thank YOU, Lisa, for always using your voice and platform! Severe vote splitting in Kitchener Centre too - Green and Liberal gave the Con the win!! Good luck with your Smith stuff - I've got my πŸ‘€ on DoFo (ON Endangered Species List is currently being gutted *sigh*)

Liberals winning is a relief and missing the 4 is disappointing but it's the number of people that are so angry, so 'anti-woke', and/or so ill informed that saddens me. We almost had PP messing with our Charter of Rights and they didn't care. πŸ’”

Though I appreciate your history posts, and this is interesting history I never knew, maybe we could tone down the 'let's burn the parliament' rhetoric until the political rage in Canada has settled down a bit? 😬🫣 Please?

Just after 2016, Harper was to visit the orange guy and the WH called Ottawa for prep as the 'PM' was visiting - Ottawa was confused as Trudeau wasn't scheduled to travel to the US. It was Harper, representing the IDU, congratulating the win. 😬 The political equivalent of a πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ flag on a backpack.

It's the message the Con bots on twitter are arguing with too. I always want to combat it with 'then u didn't teach your kids to be self sufficient'. I think it's also a thinly veiled appeal to the incels ... again ... that their parents should take care of them into adulthood and beyond.

I've been doing that for years too. No energy to go through it. πŸ˜” But I'm changing how I see it. Even the smallest thing decluttered is a step in the right direction and I leave the space a bit better than it was before. ❀️ It will take time, but we got this!!
