I just assumed they were looking for *any* sort of "probable cause" for firings. If a worker doesn't respond, then that's probable cause; if they do respond, this limited list of five things will in some way discredit their work. Lose/lose. The email is a trap, and EM thinks it's clever I'm sure.

This exactly. As a seller seeing sales plummet b/c traffic is down across the site is heartbreaking.
But also as a buyer I find myself ordering less from Etsy since searching for many things has become a slog through tons of slop.
Etsy seems unable to acknowledge this sucks for *customers*, too.

I have seen very few institutions stand up against it, but my guess is that most are just hoping it’ll get blocked/held-up in the courts so they’re not pressed to do anything about it one way or another. 😐

I definitely learned this the hard way. His stuff is like… fine. But the selling points wind up making them too niche.
Ex: “Lit” really *is* the brightest glow pigment I’ve worked with, but it mixes very poorly into mediums such that every brush stroke is hyper-visible; thus it’s not broadly useful.

That’s pretty consistent with my numbers, except everything 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ absolutely *plummeted* post-election.
I’m seeing people who are way more talented and dedicated really struggle and I don’t have the skill or the drive to try to catch up. Best I can do is step aside and try to help others where I can.

Etsy also desperately needs a convenient way to blacklist ever seeing a shop again, so at minimum it’d be easy to manually block out some of the deluge of ai slop. 😔

I don’t know if ultimately the goal is for the person giving the advice to go “well you should have listened and moved away” when things get bad or what, but it’s not helpful. Folks shouldn’t have to abandon community and family on the *gamble* that 1 facet of your life might work better elsewhere.

This exactly! Moving within the US to a blue state is a lot more feasible than *leaving the country altogether*, but even that’s not really actionable advice for most folks. Like hats off for the folks who have been able to, but it’s complicated!
