Protecting Trans people is the cornerstone to the Democrats having any kind of future as a credible party. Like the sides are being drawn up and you really have to make the case pretty clearly: "We're the ones who care about humanity." Any less than that and what are you even doing?

This is a really great episode, if you're at all interested in witches or folklore this is essential listening.

Finally got to see The People's Joker (3rd cinema trip in 4 days!) and I really loved it. It's chaotic and messy and mad but there's a really heartfelt story at it's core that really shines through.

I just need 300 more subscribers to get to 40k on YouTube, which is 40% of the way to my ultimate goal of 100k! I spend hours every week making videos about tech and online culture. YouTube is the platform I'm most focused on this year, so SUBSCRIBE TODAY!! www.youtube.com/@TaylorLorenz

Just completed Indika. What an incredibly strange and fascinating game. Like playing a Tarkovsky movie.

I finally watched the second half of Threads and I am not okay.

"It's Die Hard but with Enya in a Castle"

the pact

Just found out that Geena Davis was at one point developing her own idea for a sequel to The Fly and it sounds incredible, it would've been way better than The Fly 2.

My cat has pretty good taste in movies.

Stayed up too late playing Fear the Spotlight, but it's such a great game. It has that addictive survival horror loop of 'ah, I know which door that key opens, I'll just take a look...'

It's What's Inside is a great film, I really enjoyed it.

It actually is very important that you do things that you take pleasure in, regularly. That is part of how you survive the things that feel like they are going to destroy you.

@kirkhamilton.com I also just watched Trap and totally agree! The first 45 minutes were so good and then it went off the rails!

Zuckerberg's 'masculine energy' got its first big win with Trump declaring there are only two genders. This is an agenda that will see laws passed to push gays back into the closet and women back into the kitchen. Our trans siblings are in the front line of this fight, so now more than ever

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter are being expressly used for fascist propaganda, control, and targeted attacks. They are unsafe. If you have to be there, be there, but it's not ceding the digital space to leave fascist platforms for new and safe alternatives. Community is where we make it.

Totally agree with this. I remember this conversation with my dad after seeing Lost Highway at the cinema: Dad: Did you like that? Me: Yes. Dad: Me too. Did you understand any of it? Me: No. Dad: Neither did I.

Macbeth watched in panic as Birnam Wood advanced upon the castle. He muttered, "Oh shit, someone called the copse."

I got to be friends with David Lynch when we were both at Universal years ago. A very kind man, he was a fan of Bob's Big Boy. So was I. I'm going to miss him. R.I.P. David.

I have a box of clown masks from a short film I made a while ago. Last night my daughter fell off the bed and landed on it. On the way to school today she told me she was excited to tell everyone about the time she "fell into the box of clowns".

Loved the new Nosferatu. It's a really solid adaptation of Dracula that gets so many things right and brings some new interpretation as well. Sometimes it's a little style over logic, but then it all looks so great that I didn't mind.

I'm about to turn 45, my parents got me Star Wars Outlaws for Christmas, I've been playing it non-stop (around bouts of necessary adulting) since then, the same way my 12-year-old has been playing their new Mario game. This is why I love video games.

Preservation is at the heart of what we do. This year, we released the Vanishing Culture report— detailing instances of cultural loss and emphasizing the role that libraries and archives play in preserving materials. I'm watching this awful Bruce Willis movie, Extraction, and the macguffin is called the Patriarch Key, so people just keep asking Bruce Willis what he's done with the patriarchy.

Really enjoyed the Like A Dragon TV show. One of the few instances where I actually wanted more episodes.

Did my first TikTok Live today. Turned into a half-hour lecture on the work of William Castle. Thought it was good enough to edit into a video but when I went to clip it, realised my mic wasn't on and the whole thing was silent!

I've watched Lord of the Rings 82371 times, and Bilbo going "HRAAAGGGGHHH" has jolted me precisely 82371 of those times

If you want to know how sustainable the ents industry in Britain is for non celebs right now I just asked to change my shift at my shop job so I can go up to London for a bafta
