Have been in IT for 30 years. The cyber security guy in our office. Super liberal and in the top 1% on Try Hack Me. Used to love backpacking but my age has put a damper on that. Also love cats and like them better than most people.

I thought murals on vehicles died in the 70s. I always wanted Gandalf fighting the Balrog on the side of my van. If these are back I need to buy a van again.

It wasn’t intended to be a disrespect of anyone just that the fast track for Canada only mentions developer not cyber security or anything else. And if I recall correctly it was specific developers.
comment in response to post
Well I wasn’t really calling you a standard IT guy. I was simply stating that an IT guy isn’t what they are looking for. If you are not a developer you are not on their fast track. And the list for fast track doesn’t mention cyber security. You developer skills are likely enough to get there.

Canada isn’t as easy as it was in the 60s. You must have a job lined up and the process is 18 months unless you have one of the needed skills. Standard IT is not one. Developer/programmer is a fast track if you can do that but writing small exploits really isn’t at the lever they want.

We all know how they happens. Insider trading. Since they all do it I suspect that they will only investigate Dems.

And you don’t seem to understand that they argue that everything a president does is an official act. If you have any imagination at all you would see that even Trump banging a 13 year old is an official act of educating the youth or some other lame excuse.

What is democratic leadership going to do. They have the power to effect change. Sure we can protest but ultimately they need the will to do something.

But honestly that is still protected as fair use even if they did. Like artist that make images of Obama made up of many smaller pictures. The smaller pictures are copyrighted but they are transformed into something new which makes it fair use. I would love to see how courts decide this.

I don’t think that is the case for all of them. I have seen many AI images that don’t appear to be elements from other images. I hate them because I feel like most are passed off as real when they are not. The wood carving ones are examples that are not elements of other images.
comment in response to post
So how is AI stealing it? It doesn’t make an exact copy or anything.

I never thought the system of checks and balances would be dependent on if anyone would enforce the system. Even if a judge finds them in contempt who will enforce the arrest warrant.

Karma for our times. Support Trump and you lose. The only difference is we all lose most of the time.

I would contact Rossmann Group and see what they think first. They are very honest and charge a reasonable rate. Some of the date recovery services are ripoffs. But follow the 321 rule for backups.

Another incel living at grandmas house. I expect Trump will pardon him too.

So if a human paints a scene are they not painting in a style they were taught by other painters? There is a reason you can copyright just your expression of an image and not the idea that a horse can be painted. So I need more convincing.

Gee why would he care about rare earth minerals? It couldn't be lithium for Muskrats batteries could it?I do agree that we need to develop our own sources since China has them mostly tied up either by owning them or contracts in Africa. National security issue to be able to make our own electronics

In some ways I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping to see MAGA outrage when Canada and Mexico targeted red state goods for tariffs.
comment in response to post
Pretty sure the "we will put tariffs on goods from red states" was the 4D chess move that MAGA always claims Trump does.

I get they are coming from a good place but I aways have a default with things like this that they know what they are doing and it is non of my business. I guess if you said you were drinking bleach to get rid of covid I might say something but I eat popcorn every night for desert is not that level

Social lives are way overrated. People suck. Cats and books are good.

Sure we always go after our own and they pay for their crimes yet republicunts never do.

And starting the first concentration camp in Gitmo.
comment in response to post
Looks like both Canada and Mexico will be targeting goods from red states to do retaliatory tariffs. I expect Florida Oranges will cost a lot in Canada in upcoming days.
comment in response to post
Is he a progressive or a centrist? Because having a young person there is nice but not if he is not going to be any different.
comment in response to post
What I find most funny is Canada is targeting red states in their retaliatory tariffs.

Racism might be worse now than it was 50 years ago. The helicopter pilot was at fault anyway. He request to go visual VFR. ATC asked twice if he had the airplane in sight. Had the helicopter just let ATC tell him what to do it wouldn’t have happened.
comment in response to post
All I can say is if you watch the Pilot Debrief YouTube channel you will discover mistakes are something that happens more often than you can imagine. One place I don't want to see cuts is ATC and pilots. I want them well fed and not worrying about making rent.

Sir do this for every nominee and every bill they try to pass. Do obstruction the same way they do. They did this to Biden and Obama. If they won't act in good faith neither should we.
comment in response to post
I know it seems beneath us to stoop to their level. But when they go low we go high isn't working. We have to fight as dirty as they do. Do not vote for any of his nominees. Do not pass any of their bills. Even continuing resolutions like they do. Do not give an inch.

Let's see if I understand this correctly. We are going to take 10M taxpayers who can't collect benefits off the tax paying rolls and have to hire guards and pay for food to feed them. Food that is going to be more expensive due to lack of farm workers. Is that about right?
comment in response to post
What is weird is looking at the satellite images of Gitmo the area is big but not that big. No way can they house 30K people let alone 10M.

Yet Thomas still sits on the Supreme Court. Did Menendez deserve it? Yes. Does Thomas deserve the same? Also yes.

I bet they have already started building the "shower" facility. Has Bayer Aspirin started an new facility for making a "insecticide" yet?
comment in response to post
It is like the 1980s again when Reagan broke the ATC union. There are two people I want to be well fed and not worrying about paying rent. ATC and pilots. I knew an ATC guy and he was always on edge about everything. You have to be right 100% of the time or a lot of people die.

I ask people to define "straw man fallacy" and much of the time they have no clue. If you don't have that basic critical thinking skills then you have no chance of ever making wise decisions. There are about ten fallacies that are often used but rarely called out.

You would also think that the Commander and Chief would understand that the military helicopter was under his command. Apparently the buck no longer stops here.

I never saw us buying our own 1984 big brother devices but here we are.

I liked Snow Crash. I wish there were more cyberpunk books out there but sadly there is not a lot to choose from. And yes I have read Ready Player One and everything from Gibson.

One truism you see all the time in small claims court is it is always cheaper to be a good neighbor than a bad one.

Are eggs controlled at the border? If you had a truckload they are likely not for personal use but I would think that personal use eggs would be okay. I wonder what would be considered the limit? 10 cartons? 20? Not sure.

I know we are supposed to be pacifist but we need a lot more Luigi's out there right now.

It likely already is. It sure did a good job of crashing tech stocks. Even if someone decompiles it my bet is the code is so obfuscated that we won't find any strings that are useful or they can easily be explained as update servers or something and not C2 servers.

I would say it is because they allowed themselves to fool themselves into believing things without good evidence they develop a unreliable epistemology that makes them not see realities that go againist their cognitive biases.
