And also that older people are more frail so get injured and die from collisions they’d walk away from earlier in life. Doesn’t negate all the other points though about the need to get us all out of cars with better transit, better walking way before we’re old!

This is a good point. In a recent study under review we found some of the same things that keep people wedded to their car, keep them wedded to using buses for example, norms, but also independence, freedom etc. I wonder if we just sell cars better than we do buses around such aspirations.
