Agree, and if it does happen, then they need to be pushed to that point. The optics of a direct bailout will overall look terrible to the majority of people, no matter how they spin it.

As John Hussman explains, "If a dentist in Poughkeepsie pays 10 cents more for a single share of Apple, the market capitalization of Apple will increase by $1.5 billion. If a single share is sold 10 cents lower, that $1.5 billion vanishes into thin air. Market cap. is simply price times shares."

I would like to see ALL open seats in 2026 contested at the primary level. Both houses, both parties. Current representatives need to defend their record and (in)actions. If they are not worried about their seats, then they are not going to do much I'm afraid.

Absolutely. Every open seat, House and Senate, Republican and Democrat, needs to be contested at the primary level next year. These people are all concerned mostly with staying in office above all else, and need to know we can’t tolerate the erosion of the republic. We need actual leadership.

Yes. They are all LARPing. Every single open seat R and D, House and Senate, next year needs to be contested at the primary level.

Was just thinking about a Mr. Show sketch from long ago where the founding fathers convene to design a flag that prevents performance artists from desecrating it:

I'm sure others know more about this, but Morgan Stanley financed Elon's purchase of Twitter. He pledged TSLA shares as collateral to secure like $13b of debt, so they have a large interest in those shares not losing value.

IIRC Howe says it will resolve in the early 2030s, so we may have 7-8 years to go. A lot of that to be determined in the next 2 years it seems.

Appreciate this perspective and optimism. On the other hand, we’re in the middle of a 4th turning which puts us in a social context that produces events like the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and WWII. Events that push our nation to a dividing line and the republic at risk. Curious what you think.

I attended a talk given by Robert Ballard (he found Titanic) several years ago. He observed that we still haven't fully explored the oceans yet, and emphatically stated we have zero chance of successfully terraforming Mars.

Not that I know anything about such matters, but if Elmo was trying to defend the price directly, I would expect some pump tweets to that effect. Just scanned his feed back to the one containing the brick + gold paint (MY EYES!) and don't see anything.

Hopefully their defense attempts go as well as some of those EM countries that try to defend their declining currencies. Just burning their gold and cash reserves for nothing.

I have mulled on this for a week now and my household is participating. While the aims are nebulous, a lot of us are angry and it seems like a good way to show some solidarity. It will definitely take repeated efforts to have an impact, but we can start with one.

Well said. This is going to be a very difficult period, but even small acts of kindness, compassion, and solidarity can help. Trying to win the survival of our republic without losing our humanity is daunting.

Exemptions will come with a required purchase of $X worth of WH approved meme coins and a commitment of at least 1000 gold visas.

Agree. My wife and I initially saw it in a DEI context, which we support, but since the republic is being dismantled, one of my demands would be that Republican reps stand up for Article I. I'm not sure we can wait for cuts to Medicaid to kick in before taking some kind of action.

Somewhat related, I'm curious what you all think about the use of the general boycott (e.g. this Friday's blackout) to get some of what passes for leadership to notice?

A surprising follow who is in that camp that I am trying to understand is Mike Green. I'm not done with his Substack post on the subject yet, but halfway through and still no explanation of how "the other side would have been worse." This is still a head scratching admission to me:

“These people” are more than just [president redacted]. There will surely be a scramble for power if he doesnt make it. Whether the party that results from all this is viable after him or not is questionable.

I guess we should have guessed that the most likely outcome of real world anarchocapitalism would be the president of a nation issuing a greater fool token.

I would think/hope Jamie Dimon et al would make some phone calls prior to any serious attempt (intentional or otherwise) to self-immolate the USD.
