“We can grab 0.8% of the Republican voters if we make the lives of trans people a living hell.” — Democratic strategists, probably

My seven-year-old niece probably would be thrilled.

The one craft chain here in the US (Michael's) has started getting their Halloween stuff in. Most of it is very neon pink. At least it's not coated in glitter. They had a "goth" home decor line this summer, which I appreciated.

At some point it becomes multitasking: you're "resting" and doing aerobics at the same time.

I have the misfortune of knowing the Bundy family personally, so as much as I'd like to forget them, no dice.

You know you don't want to go outside when you wake up, open the curtains/blinds, and the windows are all coated in condensation. Nope nope nope nope.

Georgia has the same issue this time of year, you have my sweaty support. 🥵

I find the whole thing over there to be a huge, "what the fuck did you think was gonna happen," when it comes to how people feel about Israel.

You want my general thought? Bibi is a warmongering asshole who doesn't want to make sure that the rest of the world is okay with Israel, he's so hellbent on trying to punish everyone else/dominate the region that he doesn't care who they hurt. He'll burn everything down before he acts decent.

The next time someone from Utah claims the people who live there are "nice," remind them they how full of it they are. The "nice" people of Utah have consistently elected a creep like Lee, and will continue to elect him, because he reflects their weird values.

If these are the people who supposedly are going to be at the top tier of heaven, blah blah blah... what motivation is that for the rest of us? That isn't an eternal reward, that's punishment. Nobody in their right mind is going to want to spend any time with them now, let alone for eternity.

Church leadership should have nipped this ugliness in the bud years ago. Good members need to call out and hold the worst of their neighbors accountable and not let these kinds of attitudes slide. Otherwise, the reputation of the entire church goes to pot because these jerks are what people see.

So heartwarming how conservatives can always bond over their families hating them

If what I'm seeing is accurate, he's only been attempting to Rent-A-Cop for a few years now. I'm sorry, but if you're trying to switch to that kind of thing in your mid-fifties as a major pivot, the question becomes "how much of this is due to a midlife crisis"?

To be fair, not only were they harassing all y'all just trying to get your education, but they were outright lying on top of it. That's extra insulting. At least be honest/get it right, dipshits.

Rent-a-cop is its own category of ugh.

They keep saying, "If you see someone you suspect of impersonating a law-enforcement officer, report it and confirm it." Pardon my caps, but HOW THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE, WHEN EVEN THE SUPPOSED LEGIT ONES ARE WEARING MASKS AND WON'T SHOW CREDENTIALS?

As if "delicate, beautiful, tiny" people can't be terrible and do monstrous things. WTF. Just because you find somebody hot or not doesn't mean a thing about their personality or ethics.
comment in response to post
Not great that all of the descriptions of someone “impersonating” law enforcement are just descriptions of what law enforcement are currently doing in our streets

If you can, you might want to call the local animal control number directly and let them know, so they can humanely take care of that poor deer. I'm sorry, I'd feel the same way you do.

I bring that up because it's obvious that worldwide, in all sorts of cultures different that the one we came from, it's pretty plain that this is a common issue. It's hard to give yourself the same patience & love you'd grant others. It seems to be more the norm than not.

Something that comes up in Buddhism a lot is the idea that you shouldn't treat yourself any differently than you would others. So, would you be kind & loving to somebody you care about, wouldn't you try to nurture them as they work through things? Then why wouldn't you do the same for yourself?

Wait, you mean opening random cans and dumping them on instant rice doesn't count as cooking skills? /sarcasm

Isn't that how it always goes? Almost everything is about "how does this benefit rich white people", then later it's paraded around as something that was/is for everyone, when reality of the matter is quite different? Hey, it was great for rich white people, so it was great for everyone! Gag me.

On one hand, yay women pushing for equality. On the very big other hand, really f'ing sucks that for a lot of them it was only "what about me specifically" instead of worrying about "what about all of us"?
comment in response to post
The suffragettes were racist and classist. For most of them, it wasn't really "votes for women", it was "votes for upper-class white women, the rest of them would taint everything, so why would we want them to vote?"

You're also doing a lot of emotional support for your kids, the neighbor kids, and your kids' friends. You obviously contribute to your marriage, or there wouldn't be a marriage. Contributions aren't always financial ones. Some of the more important ones have absolutely nothing to do with money.
