Yup. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Whether it's Democrats putting flyers on Chris Cillizza’s Tesla or Republicans assassinating Democratic lawmakers, it's time for both sides to turn down the temperature.

I wrote quite a lot about how the left’s hateful rhetoric fueled the killings of the healthcare CEO and Israeli embassy staffers. I’m going to either ignore this weekend’s assassinations in Minnesota or maybe write something both siding them.

We have self-reports or news accounts from 320 of the 2,000 No Kings Day events across the US today. Up to an unofficial tally of about 575,000 people now. Extrpaolating from that, total would be around 4.5m people, or about 1.3% of the pop. Some error I'm sure. Thanks to everyone crowdsourcing!

What a contrast: On the one hand, one grandiose spectacle in the nation's capital, a panorama of propaganda put on by an aspiring autocrat. On the other hand, thousands of assemblies of free citizens across the nation, authentic celebrations of the proposition that here the people rule.

just watched this netflix documentary on the oklahoma city bombing and once again i'm struck by how so many of the popular media takes on this event just avoid entirely the connection to organized white supremacism

My favorite two signs from today's No Kings protest in Charlottesville. Big crowd, fantastic turnout. Lots of positive energy. The mood defiant & determined.

Seen this going around but I’m Reposting it with the full alt text bc everyone deserves to read this glorious reply from Boy George

Reposting because this is still too good

Essential reading (by @jasonstanley.bsky.social) for every American. The media, aided by a handful of reactionary academics and compliant university administrations, has sold the public a huge lie about wokeness on college campuses, enabling the extreme right. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

you ever think about how in 2009 DHS released a report about the growing threat of violent domestic terrorism from the right and then Republicans got so mad about it the DHS secretary resigned?

Terry Moran, unshackled, says what should be said. Standing up for the truth and democracy in an era where the truth and democracy are polarized means you risk being labeled a partisan and losing audience share. So be it. That’s what it means to have values. open.substack.com/pub/terrymor...

I’m having a hard time taking seriously the argument that LLMs are a more important invention than, say, the stream engine, refrigeration, and printing press

shoutout to every idiot who believed that trump would "end the wars"

We wanted to understand what is happening in the conflict between Iran and Israel. So we talked to three ivermectin users at an Arby's in Massapequa.

Also cannot be emphasized enough: Barack Obama successfully negotiated the shutdown of Iran's nuclear program. It exists today because Trump deliberately tore up that agreement. The deaths happening right now can be laid at his door.

this is so damning and absolutely no one in power in the Democratic party will do shit about it

Oh, Ross

The Dems really, really, *really* need to make Miller the face of the administration, the way Musk was until recently. He’s hugely unlikeable and has the potential to create major drag if he is out front and center.

notice the b-b-b-but biden response to "looks like trump is in decline"

Every Dem Senator: "What happened to Senator Padilla today was an unprecedented breach of constitutional government and demonstrates the scale of the threat to our republic." Also Every Dem Senator: [Goes back to business as usual] 18 Dem Senators: [Vote for Trump's crypto bill]

GET OLD PEOPLE OUT OF GOVERNMENT

What Padilla was doing was far better than what he would have been doing if he were on the Senate floor (voting to advance the crypto industry's legislative priority). That any Dem is doing the bidding of the crypto industry is shameful. They should not be collaborating with the regime's funders.

My question for all the Dem's expressing outrage at the treatment of Padilla is, "Yes, and...?" Responding to fascism with the floor speeches and press releases that barely make a dent in a functioning democracy is criminal fecklessness and dereliction of duty.

Reminder that seven Democratic senators voted to confirm Kristi Noem and six Dem senators declined to vote either way. She was confirmed, 59-34. The good faith experiment is clearly over, and we need the Democratic senators who didn't stand against her nomination to be loud as hell right now.

mike johnson desperately wants to be a supplicant to a king

so obvious that this is an aesthetic complaint that is being inflated into some kind of strategic critique. these folks might be annoying but so far the protests have *harmed* trump’s standing not improved it. would be interesting to see williams incorporate that reality into his analysis.

Not Slate working overtime to hate on Bluesky…

I think California needs to start arresting Feds. drastic but we’re there.

seems like a turning point
