If you are new to direct action, you will be called "uncivil" at the very least. It's par for the course. Embrace it.

My guess is I won't manage to write down all the thoughts/blogposts/documenting etc I already want to until post-Knutepunkt, so this is the latest update on my trip documentation for a week or so! (With new thoughts/references/quotes + a game) chloemashitermakesthings.wordpress.com/researching-...

Went through my Krystalium characters 'words' this evening (since, I basically have everything she 'said' written down) - love the variety of messages on 1st page, and the handwriting that varies with tone of message, and I think 2nd page is only written 'conversation' that happened

Been quiet online because I've been larping at Krystalium the last few days! Been silent irl because the universe is hilarious and I *entirely* lost my voice right before the game. Which...definitely gave some interesting insights for research into game and experience design! Writing up soon

did you know? i made an app that lets you make games on your phone by taking pictures of things. it's good! downpour.games

Started updating the page on my website where I'll be documenting research in various ways (including d100 tables) - it won't be updated for a few days as I'll be wifi-less off on a larp, but got down some initial thoughts/references/etc! chloemashitermakesthings.wordpress.com/researching-...

Don't know if anything makes me more grateful for my phone than travelling solo. Being able to look for/listen to phrases in the local language, bring up maps of the area, search for cafes or museums or galleries with such damn ease. (When I got my esim going on Monday, was such a tangible relief.)

it may seem small but getting over my self-consciousness to ask strangers (in French) if they spoke English or German, so I could check if they were waiting for the same train, is massive for me. good to try and get those things out of the way early on

Not even boarded Eurostar yet today and I'm already a third of the way through The Infinite Playground. Off to a good start.

If you can give, here's the aggregate and guaranteed legit portal to suit everyone who wants to help Ukraine. If you're uneasy with donating for combat, you can support de-mining, paramedics, emergency responders, hospital reconstruction, etc. war.ukraine.ua/donate/

Just over a day until I head off for three months for some intensive thinking-about-games time. I'm mainly going to document it here for anyone interested! (Naturally the page is pretty empty now...but should fill up fairly soon!) chloemashitermakesthings.wordpress.com/researching-...

Someone generously shared this template of a handout they were inspired to create for their local community with me. Here's a canva link if you'd like to adapt it for your communities: www.canva.com/design/DAGgN...

Every time Pantomime by Operator Please starts playing thru my headphones, I go 'I really should share this song' because I think it's one of the most gorgeous pieces of music, esp the instrumental sections. So here - give it a listen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOA8...

Reminder to avoid soon anything online if you’re taking an active response!!

1 week until I head off to mainland Europe for 3 months to research live gaming and experience design! Part of this will be thinking about what *concrete things* support people in playing - you can check out my searing-hot take on abstract-vs-concrete data here: explorealongame.wordpress.com/blog/

Anyone who's experienced with running OBS-and-related-software for remote performance/digital shows/etc, please make yourself known to me! I've been asked a few times recently about my availability for this work but when I'm not free I don't have a solid list of people to direct folks to

Last night's sharing of Support Group for the Newly Human went well! I actually wrote a post about that - and how the piece links in to my upcoming research trip - and then forgot to post it, so here it is! explorealongame.wordpress.com/2025/02/18/s...

Goddamn I'm going to have to make some list of all the exhibitions/conferences/events etc I came across whilst researching my upcoming research trip that *aren't happening whilst I'm there* because there's some amazing ones. For now, I love the look of this: nieuweinstituut.nl/en/articles/...

Just 'rehearsed' Support Group for the Newly Human (spoke to imaginary people whilst pacing my room...) and *so excited* for tonight! This strange, gentle, emotional, silly show-slash-game combines so much I love, can't wait to see what people do with it! (Also: it packs down *this small"?!)

Print this out and put it in your pocket When there is a lull in your Valentine's date, produce it and play one of the games with your companion It is not clear whether this will improve your date or make it much, much worse. Either way, it'll be interesting michellicopter.itch.io/duet

help i was dictating some of the text for Support Group for the Newly Human ahead of monday's show and almost made myself teary because yes it's about people who were Vampires and Ghosties and whatnot but beneath that THEMES

Just finished writing the 45 unique character overviews for Support Group for the Newly Human (part of the Voidspace takeover at Side/Step festival next week). So now all there is to write is the things I say (which, y'know, I can always just make up, right?) So glad I've finally got those done!

I really really need you guys to make a conscious rejection of generative AI tools part of your ongoing political resistance. Don't use ChatGPT. Turn off Gemini. Don't read the AI results forced upon you at the top of Google search. Don't use AI art generators or support anyone who does. Please.

I've still got a couple of gaps in my plans for my Big-Europe-Gaming-&-Play research trip Mar-May - end of March/start of April, and end of April/start of May. If there's anything anyone out there would recommend checking out (conferences/events/games/shows/venues/etc!) do feel free to shout!

I'm doing a new show (Support Group for the Newly Human) in two weeks' time as part of @voidspacezine.bsky.social's evening at Side/Step Festival in Angel (London) on 17th February! Come pretend to be an ex-supernatural being grappling w humanity... sidestepfestival.squarespace.com/whats-on/sid...

At Xmas my housemates gave me the official Spiderman board game released as a tie-in to the 1st Sam Raimi film - yesterday I got to play it. IT'S WONDERFUL/TERRIBLE. The maze challenge is so easy to get pumped for, the 'swinging spiderman' mechanic is so tricky the game assumes you'll fail...

Morning everyone! This week, we want to hear what Actual Plays you've been enjoying lately. I'll go first with @rpgeeksdnd.bsky.social playing @chloemashiter.bsky.social's Time Heist guest starring @theneoncaster.bsky.social youtu.be/GpCBDUbmREM?...

I was at a symposium this past week on exploring non-formal modes of climate education for young people, got chatting about role-playing games as ways of 'rehearsing' for real-life. Which turned into me making a list of useful games related to activism/climate change/etc - sharing here if useful!

An absolutely joyful+ridiculous show, so glad I saw @airlocktheatre.bsky.social do their thing! (which was a centaur who's pleasingly surprised to remember he has hands, a serial proposer ('but are you horny for marriage?'), a ping-ponging old wizard, + light-up-sneaker-wearing French Danny Devito)

the game jam page is UP. join now or become cringe #tittyrpg jam starts Feb 1 and goes til March 15. LFGGGG
