Considering things like two player Battletoads is harder than any Fromsoft game, I think gaming as a hobby always had those kinds of games.
So I doubt much would change. We'd have just had less boring 3rd person roll simulators over the last decade.

Oahu. Grew up in Kahaluu and later Kaneohe when I was a teenager. Went the Kahaluu/King/Castle school route.
I dunno why she thought we lived in huts. Then again she was from Pennsylvania so she didn't have much cultural variety in her life.

When I moved to the mainland for my then GF, she asked if we lived in huts.
I felt a way about that. I also said we did tho because who am I to destroy her concept of Hawai'i.

Inindo doesn't get enough respect for how fascinating a game it was. Also the soundtrack felt like it belonged to a Genesis game with how crunchy it was.

Nah for real though I didn't learn much about it in school either and I'm from Oahu. Had to learn that stuff on my own time. Though Castle HS is pretty lame.

My hottest of takes is that maybe you're just watching bad anime? Old anime was largely pretty terrible too, it just got filtered out much more heavily so you didn't have to wade through it.
Frieren stands right up there with Lodoss, for example. Pick whichever of the two Lodoss you like more.

Anyone can draw or write yet we feel the distinct urge to label people artists and writers.
