Yet again *another* Times columnist - this time Emma Duncan - makes a blatantly false claim about disability benefits "At present you can get signed off sick simply through a phone consultation with a GP." Just shockingly bad journalism, again and again and again. archive.ph/It3VS

Reeves plans billions in benefits and spending cuts Wrong policy. Can't get growth by inflicting austerity, real income cuts, cutting public investment. Must redistribute, end profiteering, end tax perks of the rich; need wealth tax, Tobin tax, tax capital gains & dividends at same rate as wages.

people who fret about sickness benefits but not about other government spending are just bigots. most of the £ is spent directly into the economy making them a stabilising force, there are many examples of gvt spending that is actually problematic. they just want disabled people to suffer

People reminding you why you blocked them at the old place years ago.

Colbert nails it

What Emma is describing here is the way Britain is increasingly governed by politicians and media outlets unifying around single shared key messages and blasting them at the public together like a great Nordstream shitpipe in your living room. It’s been like this for decades, and now happens yearly.

Labour could tax the super-rich to end poverty, build social housing and fix our NHS. They are choosing to go after the worst-off instead. For a while, many people didn’t know what this government stood for. They do now: tough choices for the poor, endless money for war.

Regular reminder that there is no reason Labour has to “eye billions of pounds in welfare and other cuts”. It’s more than possible to raise cash with targeted wealth taxes. Austerity is a choice and it’s a choice no matter what colour party is in power.

The 17th straight year of the Thatcherite consensus flailing around trying on new guises to survive, like the T-1000 thrashing in the molten steel. Big Society, Brexit Britain, Levelling Up, Securonomics, the Warfare State: all much the same shit wearing a different hat, all getting roasted alive.

I see Labour have admitted out loud that they interpret being "the party of workers" as meaning they're not the party of children, the elderly, the disabled, carers, the chronically ill, asylum seekers, etc. They don't want your votes and they don't respect your lives.

When a UN Special Rapporteur saw Tory welfare and treatment of the sick and disabled he called it a 'human catastrophe'. #RachelReeves looks at the UK economy and decides just who should carry the burden of fixing it: yes, the very same sick and disabled people. And then calls it a 'moral case'!

Rachel Reeves has decided to be Osborne 2.0 but fully expects the results to be different this time. Countdown to recession.

Complete madness. www.bbc.com/news/article...

"She's turned the weans against us." (Apologies for the cultural appropriation)

This meme is tapping into a deep reservoir of Britishness.

"Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough." (music optional)

I have no idea if Starmer did well or otherwise. It doesn't matter. Anything he comes back with will be no more than Chamberlain's 'piece of paper'. Even Trump doesn't know what he'll do by the end of the day, let alone the future.

"Autoglass repair, Autoglass replace."

Michelle Trachtenberg is dead at the age of 39. That is so grim.

Just in case you were wondering about Dan Bongino … here’s a Twitter exchange with Stephen King. It’s quite possible that Dan “Toaster Head” Bongino is dumber than Trump.

Wonder how many tedious Reform drones will be trotting out the line that Zelensky is a traitor? Always curious what percentage are paid for and how many are useful idiots. Oh well.

Donald Trump calls Zelensky a "dictator" and suggests Ukraine may cease to exist soon. Any European leader still believing his administration is anything but fundamentally hostile to our interests is kidding themselves

On 22 January, GB News presenter Josh Howie repeated a homophobic slur linking the LGBTQ+ community to paedophilia. This is offensive, wrong and unlawful. Join me and @GoodLawProject to file a complaint to Ofcom  action.goodlawproject.org/ofcom-stop-g...

Nailed it 🏆

Current UK economic and social policy.

What is Labour thinking on immigration? youtu.be/mhu42XHzecs

Definitely not like the Tory rabble. Definitely.

These people on benefits need to stop taking the mickey. This one has a helicopter, 2 pilots, 3 bodyguards and 2 people just to salute him. What an arsehole wasting all our money

When will Govt learn you can’t out-Reform Reform - you end up simply legitimising their toxic narrative. To see off populists, Labour needs to invest in public services & local communities, making a real difference to people’s lives - levy a wealth tax & use it to improve people’s lives *now*

"The UK’s chief auditor has said he is open to learning from Elon Musk’s US “department of government efficiency”, as he gave a speech warning that the NHS and special educational needs funding systems are becoming unsustainable." Geeze. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

I genuinely believe this to be the role of BBC news here in the UK. Tone down everything, keep us placid.

Incoming message from the Grammy’s. Lady Gaga wants to know what the fuck you’re doing so close to the Neutral Zone.

Why are government’s “hard decisions” always hard on people with the hardest lives already - so sick of framing cowardice in dealing with those with the most as “toughness”

rachel reeves isn’t stupid. she *knows* a huge number of people are either too physically or mentally ill to meet the demands of work. she *knows* disability benefit fraud is a minuscule sum, effectively 0%. she’s just a scapegoat-seeking sadist happy to kill off disabled people

I'm willing to bet the average news street vox pop would unerringly find them. For, you know, balance.

Maps tell me Tesco and Amazon drivers are very close. Now taking bets.

Robert F. Kenney got into Harvard by submitting an application that was a single page long and consisted entirely of his name. Here's why it's time to end DEI.

Pass the bucket will you. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Every day we're reminded why we can't have nice things. Big sigh.
