So far so good! Oh, one last thing they might not mention: don't be shocked if your pup whines a bit in the hours post surgery. They aren't in pain, but are disoriented/confused, I guess. They warned us, and ours did whine here and there in a way she hasn't before out of the blue.
Good luck!

Just want to include a picture. Because I love sharing her pictures haha these are right after the spay when heading to the car after picking her up...and later in her pen at home (unusual for her as I mentioned)

I would ask your vet specifically for the Trazodone or something similar to help with the activity level if they don't already plan to give you some, especially if you're worried Mochi will want to be active!

Funny, our paperwork said 6pm, then the nurse said 9pm the day before and day of.
Ours is a picky eater on the best of days, so that wasn't too bad for us.

I'm not sure if it's different with boys. It's about pulling the stitches if they stretch/are too active.
I thought we were in trouble too, but thankfully it's been fairly easy going thanks to the sedation drugs (one is a pain killer that can cause drowsiness, but the other is just Trazodone).

One tip: take a picture of the area each day (including when you just get home) so you get a good idea of it's improving or getting more inflamed or red or something.
If you have any specific questions just ask, I'll see if I can answer them! 😊

She is a bit more alert today than she was the hours after the spay.
My wife slept next to her on the floor last night to ensure she didn't try to jump up in the pen begging to sleep with us in bed (she hates being crated even though we tried very hard to crate train from day 1...)

She was woozy as described when she was picked up, but very calm. Happy to just sit in a bed (which isn't super like her. She is quite active and usually wants to play) we have pills for pain and to help keep her less active than usual and they seem to mostly be working.

Our puppy Caper just had her spay yesterday, so I'm just a couple of hours ahead of what you're going through!
So far, the aftercare has basically been keeping her from using the stairs and jumping onto the couch or up onto her hind legs to prevent her from stretching.

NSF workers who didn't get fired this morning are sending angry emails to NSF management. Here's one of them:

You gotta give me at least an illusion of ownership for that price, lol
