On 22 January, GB News presenter Josh Howie repeated a homophobic slur linking the LGBTQ+ community to paedophilia. This is offensive, wrong and unlawful. Join me and @GoodLawProject to file a complaint to Ofcom  action.goodlawproject.org/ofcom-stop-g...

Citizenship stripping is racist It damages the sense of belonging of British communities by making some people’s citizenship worth less than that of others. Add your name if you agree that the UK government should abolish citizenship stripping. secure.reprieve.org/page/162864/...

If you believe puberty blockers are being wrong prescribed to confused, gender questioning children then surely the solution is more therapeutic support and guidance for gender questioning children, not no puberty blockers for trans kids???

By far and away, my favourite thing about this spectacularly dumb post... Is that that's THE MATTERHORN

The European Federation of Journalists has announced they will 'stop publishing content on Elon Musk's platform X. We can no longer ethically participate in a social network that its owner has transformed into a machine of disinformation and propaganda.' @efjeurope.bsky.social

🔥 The new EU General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) are set to create unique challenges for UK businesses and Northern Ireland’s place in the UK… …coming into effect on Dec 13th.

Facepalm moment

Word of warning, don't rely only on social media for your news, as their management can tweak what you are seeing. Hopefully with Bluesky it will be different, but please don't rely on that either. Go check real news websites, too.

Since 2016, there have been 3 elections, 6 PMs, and 4 different Brexit deals, none of which the Brexiters like. Yet the same Brexiters who said voting on those deals would break democracy, want another election, because they don't like the result of the one 4 months ago. These people are toddlers.

This is a very important thread to read.

Well this seems bad.

This is horrendous. We can't allow the far right mob to intimidate venues. And it sounds awfully similar to the 1920s...

Large parts of adult social care in England face collapse, thinktank says. The budget blamed but there are other factors. Massive real cut in local govt funding since 2010. Privatisation: 30%-40% of money vanishes in profits. Money buys less. End Privatisation www.theguardian.com/society/2024...

One thing I find interesting about the echo chamber complaint is that an echo chamber just won a presidential election. Put aside the convo of whether it’s “good” or “bad” for a moment. The far right has devoted enormous resources + time to building echo chambers & loathes spaces they don’t control

Yesss! In Feb I’m returning to Jorvik for the Viking Fringe Festival, with my show ‘Dark Norse - Tales from the shadows of the Vikings’. Tickets already on sale. Details here: www.facebook.com/events/12946... #jorvik #viking #NorseMythology #StorytellingForGrownUps

1. The difference so far (and for god's sake let's keep it that way) between X and Bluesky is not between right and left but between abuse and respect. A good society is built on mutual respect. But what does this mean? A short thread.🧵

A picture of my cat Fluffy relaxing on the sofa as an antidote to all my political posts...

Andrew Tate got banned from Bluesky in less than one day. Another reason things are so much better here than Twitter.

This guy is fabulous, go to one of his performances and see for yourself.

And THAT is exactly how people with a huge sense of entitlement regularly behave when they get caught out. #JeremyClarkson

Why inheritance tax charges are really good for real farmers – but not f... youtu.be/s9J0GpnXNhY?... An inheritance tax charge helps farming to reclaim farming for farmers and for the benefit of the people of this country. Labour is, for once, on their side and even doing the right thing.

Very successful AGM for @europeanmovement.co.uk on 16 November, where they made the following exciting announcement: www.europeanmovement.co.uk/new-european...

Beware the Day One dictator.

No-one will stop Putin with phone calls. The attack last night, one of the biggest in this war, has proved that telephone diplomacy cannot replace real support from the whole West for Ukraine. The next weeks will be decisive, not only for the war itself, but also for our future.

Fox is crossing line after line but nothing is done. This attack on Sangita by this absolute coward is a step too far in my opinion

We are not going to fight Trump and the rise of the far right Worldwide with wishy washy, bullshit party politics of the past. No more. We have to have our own firm, United message to push. Now! Ours is #RejoinEU and with Europe. Who is with us? Next Event: betterwitheu.uk

Indeed. When they rounded up the Japanese Americans, myself and my family included, for internment during WWII out of fear over Japanese spies and saboteurs, two thirds of us were U.S. citizens. Don’t think it won’t happen again when they come for the “undocumented.”

NEW: The great Trump-Musk crackdown is coming. And it will hit hard & fast. Journalists will be first. But everyone else is next. I urge you to read my 20 lessons in How to Survive the Broligarchy, inspired by & featuring the great @timothysnyder.bsky.social 1/ www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Be like Mark Hamill.

Two series that have kept me from attacking my TV screen in the last weeks due to the news... Agatha all along - very funny and sooo clever Vox Machina - perfect escapism, especially for role players I hope you can find some good stories to take your mind off things, too.

"I spent years building a following on Twitter...I accept that the vast majority of this accomplishment was based on calling people cunts" Breaks my heart to say this, but this is funny, insightful and disarmingly honest from @iandunt.bsky.social iandunt.substack.com/p/twitter-is...

Well I've managed to amass 1k follower somehow! So I think, i'll do a giveaway~ Like and retweet this post and comment a cool location to base a #ttrpg story in! I'll pick the winner at the end of the weekend, and they can get their choice of Locus, Stacks of Goblins, or Coffee & Chaos~

I don’t think people realise how hard & fast this is going to hit. Absolutely chilling.

During the first Trump regime, I really thought it was impossible to satirize American politics. Now I'm certain we can. We've built up our satire infrastructure, the parody reserves are full, and we are going to mock the shit out of this thing. Start your engines. theonion.com/heres-why-i-...

I'm persecuting minorities today! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Great Games and an awesome LARP. Check it out, you'll love it.

Steve Bray says he will join Blue Sky very soon but he has been busy defending himself playing the Muppet Show to Tories in court. Some of us at SODEM (Stand of Defiance for European Movement) came along to support him of course. #RightToProtest🎵🇪🇺
