Not sure about the processing of this Rubin image, but I know there is a lot of work going on in the project to work out how to optimize things for LSB work. And to be fair, my image is stretched to emphasize LSB light, whereas the Rubin release image is trying show a much wider dynamic range.....

Hah, well, the Schmidt imaging has a total stacked exposure time of something like 30 hrs.

The goal/hope for a best-case limiting surface brightness is something like 30.3 or so in r, I believe, but it will depend on a lot of details in the data processing. @ianpaulfreeley.bsky.social has some base calculations here: smtn-016.lsst.io#estimated-li...

The debris field around NGC 4365 is amazing, here it is in our imaging from the Burrell Schmidt Deep Virgo Survey. It extends beyond that Rubin cutout, here you can see the northeast loop (upper right) along with the dogleg bend at the end of the southwest tail. So much craziness going on in Virgo!

(And of course the detail in the Rubin images blows our imaging out of the water, but suffice to say that the budget and science team for the Burrell Schmidt Virgo Survey was a wee bit smaller than that of the Rubin project!)
