People might say they support this stance until "less spending in other areas" actually happens.
We saw the very same development over the past three years regarding climate change. Everyone will tell you they support climate protection. No one wants to pay for it.

Ich bezweifle, dass sich irgendwer irgendwo eine hohe Inflation wünscht.

Und wenn die Butter 2023 25 Prozent teurer geworden ist und 2024 nur noch 2 Prozent, ist sie in Summe trotzdem deutlich teurer als früher. Dasselbe gilt für Milch, Schokolade etc.

Der normale Bürger begreift Inflation aber nicht wie das Statistische Bundesamt als Warenkorb, in dem auch Computer, Möbel oder Klamotten drin stecken. Die meisten schauen auf die Preise im Supermarkt.
