A Polish acquaintance went to British Museum specifically to see this tablet only to be cheated by Ea-nasir from beyond the grave

Holy crap. 😲

Do you have your #EmergencyKit? If you have what you need to for your household to survive for 3 to 5 days in the event of a major earthquake, then you probably have what you need for most other emergencies. Get Prepared, and find useful links below. 🚨 ⚠️ 🦺 1/XX #EmergencyPreparedness #BCPoli

Canada won the hockey game so as per NHL rules we now get to absorb the USA instead. Welcome aboard!

ugh.... this echos what I have been thinking but reading it all laid out is sobering. lhttps://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trump-canada-putin-ukraine-comments-1.7462337

Justin Trudeau saying Slava Ukraini ❤️ Thank you Canada!!! 🇺🇦🤝🇨🇦

Electricity demand is surging. Canada has a generational opportunity to build a clean, connected electricity grid from coast to coast. Let's ditch the zombie pipeline ideas and invest in interprovincial connections and renewables! @cape-acme.bsky.social www.theenergymix.com/more-renewab...

The kind of content that I'm here for (whole thread)

It just struck me that out of the identifiable characters on this poster, the ratio is 12 women to 6 men, and 11 of the 18 characters are portrayed by actors of colour. How rad is that, especially for fantasy?

This is a good ad

One big flashing thought is that every showy corporate/institutional crisis donation that requires fussy need matching or onerous documentation needs to come bundled with seconded free labor to make up for the labor it's extracting from core volunteers. I'm serious and this is a reasonable request.

This was such a scorcher I briefly considered stealing and rephrasing it. Possibly with the help of Le Chat.

Leaders across Canada using tariffs as cover to expand O&G production/infrastructure is NONSENSE when Canada's largest O&G importer (the USA) is making it more expensive/difficult to import our products. It's like investing in Blockbuster during the digital media boom lol. #ABLeg #CDNPoli

Important watch for all of us feeling overwhelmed

Glad we got through the tariff emergency (at least the first wave of it....). Also glad that people are bringing creativity, energy, and determination to figuring out a medium and long-run response. But I want to throw cold water on three ideas I've seen floated. I'll explain...

If the defense of #Canada were based on the threats that are killing Canadians today, the military would be handling climate change, disaster response, and public health emergencies We need water bombers, not F-35s Latest @nationalobserver.com #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2025/01/31/o...

I'm happy to amplify this. Extend the visas! #cdnpoli cheknews.ca/ukrainian-ne...

Gotta say. This is a pretty strong argument. Canadians should KNOW if they're voting for somebody who'll let Trump end Canada & annex our territory. Under FPTP, such extremists can take control of a seemingly "mainstream" party, hiding until they've won a majority & it's too late to stop them.

Who owns 80% of the daily newspapers and local newspapers in Canada? Postmedia. Who owns them? USA hedge fund Chatham Assets. Do you think they put Canada’s interests first? I don’t. Drop them all. Get your CANADIAN news here.

You don't hear about acid rain because we took steps, collectively, at every level, to remove the causes. The ozone layer is healing. Eagles returned to my area in my lifetime. Hope isn't useless. Don't let them steal your hope. We can fix things. We can make it better.

Every time he says this, Canada should impose tariffs on 51 new items, at a rate of 51%. I'm 51% serious about this.

With special treatment for oil and gas, Trump is telling us where he is vulnerable, and who his people are. My latest column is out today: Canada should hit Trump where it hurts the most — oil and gas www.nationalobserver.com/2025/02/03/o...

the stove has been touched

The UN Charter was drafted in 1945 by people who had learned the lessons that the aggression, isolationism and tariff barriers of the 20’s and 30’s had led the world into a conflagration. Article One makes it clear: threats of annexation are illegal. So are unilateral tariffs.

Please, everyone, drop what you’re doing and read this:

Sorry doesn't cut it, American neighbours. Buy Canadian goods, fly the Canada flag, vacation in Canada, complain to your reps, support for Canada on social media, protest Trumps tariffs making life more expensive for YOU. Sorry is our thing, not yours. #Canada #cdnpoli #BuyCanadian #TeamCanada 🇨🇦

Trump: “We’re not looking for a concession. … We’ll just see what happens.” This has never been about border security, or NATO, or trade deficits, or fentanyl. The old North America is gone. If Canada doesn’t soon articulate a plan for our new reality, Trump will define it for us.

Looks like this is happening. This great perfidy from our longstanding and close ally and friend is immensely saddening and maddening. But it also makes me resolute to defend our country. We should and must retaliate. A thread about what I'll be looking for in our retaliation measures....

Strong statement here from the Canadian climate movement. Outlines a progressive response to the Trump tariffs that puts people and planet first. @canrac.bsky.social climateactionnetwork.ca/ahead-of-tru...

This morning in Toronto, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is chairing the Council on Canada-U.S. Relations. Here are his opening remarks. The meeting is closed to the press.

The weather is cloudy, the night sky reflecting sleep-interrupting overly bright streetlights, and morning dark. Until this 👇 scrolls up. Transforms grey into a smile. 😃

I used to work for an elected official as the person who answered their emails. I can tell you from personal experience, if even twenty or thirty people all call an official in a day, they start panicking. This stuff does help.

As Trump attempts purges of the civil service and likely military, as it attacks enemies (including academia and media), as it encourages cult violence, as it attacks its allies and comforts dictators, this NYT short is very much worth watching. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_D-...

In 2022, after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, I was doing a briefing for a representative of Congress and her staff, who were trying to understand the relationship between Russia and Ukraine. Spontaneously I used an analogy: 🧵 1/6 @cafreeland.bsky.social
