The framing here is unbelievable. Like the frog in boiling water reporting: "As temperatures rise, some feel that perhaps it might be warmer than before." An accurate headline would be "A powerful, deranged moron becomes Putin's bagman, and Europe cannot believe the US has turned traitor"

Running thread of people trying to normalize the sieg heil. It's not an "Elon gesture", it's not autism, it's not your heart going out, it's not parody or trolling. It's fucking despicable. Don't ever let this shit become normal. Fuck any excuse given, there is none. Zero tolerance. 1. Elon Musk

Let's all stop being so judgemental and divisive. Plenty of blame to go around for this mess, my fellow Americans. Both the arsonists and the firemen trying to stop the blaze had a hand in this, so let's meet somewhere in the middle.

The Lego Batman movie is the best. They should just keep making these instead of their DCU plan.

Lately this is my 4 year old's most requested song. youtu.be/MtN1YnoL46Q?...

Growing up, if I was ever upset about something, my dad would always say with a twinkle in his eye and a smile, "Into every life, some rain must fall." Perfect way to deal with life. Miss that man.

My 4 year old and I agreed that this was the best Paddington movie either of us had ever seen.

One of my favorites of hers. Beautiful song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyBQ...

Part of the problem is that no normal human being wants to be mayor.

Little Known Fact: Elon Musk is simply a collection of animated fat and sinew created from a series of wildly inaccurate AI articles about the manufacturing and distribution of soft cheeses.

I think we're like a couple weeks from a DOGE Bro breathlessly telling us "Dude, there are these things called national parks, the most valuable real estate you've ever seen! And like only bears and shit live there. Total waste, bro!"

Want to go visit the national parks this year? Sorry. The reservation system is shut down, EMT personnel are gone, so don't get hurt or lost. No one can clean the bathrooms or cabins, so they'll be closed. Rangers are fired. www.sfchronicle.com/bayarea/arti...

On Saturday, March 29, I'll be at the Poughkeepsie book festival with copies of my novel. Every child gets a voucher for a free book, and there are activities for the whole family. poklib.org/bookfestival/

What's incredible is how there are thousands - tens of thousands - of stories like this, a genuine national crisis akin to a foreign invasion, and our elite press is so bubbled, so insular, that they can only cover it by writing "Strong leaders flex governing muscles" 700 times over. Pathetic.

This is a $45,408,138 grant, set to run from 2019 to 2030, to study methods for helping students with disabilities achieve their post-high school goals. It was just arbitrarily cancelled. This is too expensive but SpaceX funtime isn't and god forbid we tax billionaires. ies.ed.gov/use-work/eva...

When I was a young man, I had no idea about how to apply to colleges; I assumed that the Ivies were unattainable to me, who had no money, even though my grades were very good. And I assumed every Ivy league student was brilliant. Ladies and gentlemen, this man is a Princeton graduate.

One thing Democratic leadership could do right now is to name an alternate HHS secretary--someone to provide ongoing public updates and health information. And do it for other departments too. Start showing voters what a Democratic government would look like--press conferences, speeches, all of it.

I remember when "What's the worst that can happen?" was a rhetorical question instead of a section of the newspaper.

Pretty damn good framing for Dems

Today's mystery: teenagers know everything, but by the time they reach my age, they know nothing at all. How do they lose so much knowledge in just a few decades? "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now."

I've never read Steven Erikson before but am greatly enjoying Gardens of the Moon, the first in his series. Really well written, such an interesting setting and approach to epic fantasy. Not sure how I missed these books til now, but there is so much to read and so little time.

I wonder if we should be thinking of Musk's seizing of Treasury as an historic cyber-security breach that endangers the entire US and global financial system. Every government and financial institution in the world should be demanding that Treasury arrest the hackers, restore integrity of US govt.

I know our country is on fire. I know Trump is bad and is doing very bad things, and I often address those things with posts and reposts. But if I post a joke about my kid or my dog or a pleasant experience at a diner, don’t scold me for not exclusively talking politics 24/7. Please just ignore me.

Is trump really so stupid that he thinks tariffs with achieve a stronger US economy? Or is it just another chaotic, ignorant thing he does without any thought at all, to try to appear strong? I think it's the latter.

In a crisis, it always helps to have an ignorant moron spewing dangerous nonsense. www.cnbc.com/2025/01/30/t...
