Mondays are for calling Congress. Let's do this. @5calls.org

“If a married woman hasn’t paid $130 to update her passport —assuming she has one, which only about half of Americans do— she may not be able to vote in the next election if the SAVE Act becomes law,” @wendyweiser.bsky.social tells Glamour

Imagine if a WOMAN brought her child into the Oval Office to pick his nose and eat his boogers on national television?

Well, America, we had a good run. I mean, mostly. Okay, not entirely. *flips through a history book* You know what, forget I said anything.

I heard someone say that Fox News has done to our parents what our parents thought video games would do to us. How true it is.

Abortion laws are affecting how physicians treat pregnancy loss. ProPublica reporters wrote a guide, made in consultation with dozens of doctors, for what to expect and what questions to ask. Read the full guide at: https://propub.li/4a6qtED 📽️ @carissaqmb.bsky.social

I am the byproduct of emotionally stunted parents.

🚨BLUEY MOVIE! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! YOU HAVE TWO YEARS TO PREPARE YOUR CHILDREN!🚨

Old 8th grade sex ed curriculum in Florida: 230 pages New 8th grade sex ed curriculum in Florida: 36 pages They've taken out almost everything about sex What's left is abstinence and very little of anything else

giving Luigi’s manifesto 4/5 stars on goodreads

Paperback books are like velveteen rabbits — there to be loved and squeezed and read and stuffed into shoulder bags and left in the sun and read again until there's nothing left but the best kind of memories

Hallmark Christmas movie where a girl from NYC goes home for the holidays and meets a small town boy who has definitely never been to Manhattan, certainly not on the morning of December 4, 2024

Because we're all members of the BPA (the Babygirl Protection Agency) and not rat snitch class traitor bitch motherfuckers

for context NYC offered a $10k reward for any critical information about the homocide which is about the cost of a single 15 minute ambulance ride after UnitedHealthcare denies coverage bc the EMTs responding to the call were out of network

Mantra for the new year: progress, not perfection.

Just a reminder that there’s an app available for your TV called PBS RETRO where you can watch all sorts of wonderful old pbs shows like Mr. Rogers and Reading Rainbow, you know, in case you might need that sort of energy right now

At the end of the day, don’t we all just want a bookshelf with a rolling ladder?

It's almost Thanksgiving, which means it's almost time for me to post about my favorite cursed TV commercial

Netflix - please stop minimising the end credits of movies to suggest something else. Let viewers enjoy the soundtrack and see the cast and crew that worked on the film. We'll exit it ourselves when ready to. #film #filmsky #movies #moviesky

All I want is a cottage in the Scottish Highlands, a raging snowstorm, and Agatha Christie novel, a crackling fire, a kettle on the stove, and a basket of emotional support pastries.

Bluesky feels like I took a Time Machine back to 2009 when I was still like “Hey this social media thing is going to make the world a better place.”

Anyone who is anti-vax is pro-death. Period. The science and data do not lie. And they don’t care about your podcast.

I’m convinced the “do audiobooks count as reading?” argument all derives from those mid-90s summer reading pizza challenges. Folks - we’re all in our 30s and 40s now. It’s no longer a competition. Go buy your favorite pie with your adult money and let people enjoy books however they want.

Who else thinks that buying banned books as presents is a great idea this year?

I say again, support your local public libraries! We visited ours today to file our toddler’s first-ever passport application. It’s a major public service not all libraries offer, so we are super thankful this is a thing here. The whole process took just an hour (including a stop for pastries).

I’m actually usually not that anxious unless I’m around other people or alone with my own thoughts, other than that I’m literally so chill

If you’re ever surprised by how clueless we, as a people, appear to be sometimes, just remember that a scant 25 years ago The Blair Witch project came out and 90% of the population was like “holy shit is this REAL?!”

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

parents of young kids now have Bluey 🩵. I just used a Daniel Tiger song on my teen (still works), and I grew up with Mr. Rogers & Sesame Street responsible children’s programming is an integral part of social change. it does a great service to kids’ & generational mental health

Once again weeping that I can never create something as funny as "1 day blinding stew"

This is what David Duke was up to in the late ‘70s.

I keep seeing this reference to public bathrooms as women's "private spaces" and I just do not understand it. Strangers are strangers even when they're women! We're not communing in there for hours at a time, talking about perimenopause and who's getting divorced and shaving our legs.

Hello. This is your friendly reminder to tax the churches.

"People who like cat pictures are just looking at the cat feed." This statement by Bluesky's CEO Jay Graber on CNN is EVERYTHING.
