Night Moves remains top shelf for me, one of his best for buried vulnerability. Makes a fire double bill with Altmam's Long Goodbye, sharp, noir reverent but inventive expressions of the times. The Package still cracks as a well tooled Cold War relic but had some great supporting work too.

Hackman weekend film gorge in his honour: Crimson Tide, a humane villian in his occasionally visible rectitude, all on his performance more than the page. Prime Cut, not enough of him but Marine to Marine with Lee Marvin, my first watch and it was definitely a singular early 70s genre job.
