Had someone actually accelerate towards a car coming in the opposite direction at the brow of a hill yesterday. The alternative would have been waiting 15 seconds until the double white line system ends and you’re past the danger. Endangered themselves, other driver and me for 15 seconds. 🙄

Driver couldn’t see but chose to overtake anyway. An unnecessary tragedy and waste of promising young life

I’ll bet. It would have been a tailwind too so I sacrificed some KOM attempts for not having extra bendy limbs and another potential anecdote

101. Might be quicker and you can just send a still and explanation. Either should work.

Possibly worth uploading with a one liner to say “I realise this won’t be prosecutable but might help you find a stolen car”. Or do a brief online report. Allows us to record the intelligence of where it’s been which may link up to some burglaries and facilitate further CCTV enquiries.

Some people drive like criminals because they are criminals. Hopefully that time/ location might help us track them down though.

I find a gentle “excuse me” shouted on approach more effective- just as I would when running. But I will slow to walking pace if necessary and wait behind until there’s space or they’ve noticed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Guardian columnist ought to try riding a bike. I’ve found ringing a bell only causes people to jump directly into my path - actually making the whole pass more difficult. It’s also a bit weird. Like motorists thinking blasting their horn gives them priority and everyone should get out of the way.

Lucky for him no one realised he was riding a mechanically propelled vehicle rather than a conventional bicycle . S4 RTA might have resulted in a bit less jollity

Makes a change from “I know your boss”. 🤦🏻‍♂️

My X followers have dropped right off. I like to think they’ve all left for ideological reasons and are on here to get away from the absolute disaster that app has become. Or I’m just becoming more irrelevant. Either way 🤷🏻‍♂️

I nearly got taken out by a van on this roundabout before. Driver didn’t even look before he drove into the roundabout and collided with me resulting in some sweary video footage. This was a dangerous junction. It is less so now.

I can’t really comment on what colleagues are emailing. If you check my timeline you will see a recent conviction at court for a close pass along with video. There was no forensic expert statement on that file.

We have this in the UK with zig zags on the approach to a crossing. Frequently ignored - but has quite hefty penalties for contravention when enforced properly

Many flying houses?

Given Sky haven’t existed for 5 years the number of full Team Sky kits out there in Surrey must surely be a very small amount of cyclists.

Wonder how many of these are speed related due to the high torque from EVs how many are distraction and his many relate to people using the notorious auto pilot feature.

Indeed - it’s not a great section of paint and feels like “this is how we get cyclists out of the way of motorists” rather than protection. You end up coming on the near side of those turning left to Sainsbury’s

Yup. No real excuse for getting too close either except ignorance or a deliberate act.

Not worth the aggravation. Record, retreat, report. I think I may go head mounted for the commute in the near future because the amount of phone use i am seeing is ridiculous (bike mounted cameras don’t pick it up).
