I actually like the back to back. There’s a fifteen minute break in between so it’s basically three hours on my feet and then done, leaving three other weekdays entirely free.

Add in that prestigious grants are both (summer) salary boosters and sources of competing offers/career advancement, then it is understandable that some would grumble if your institution unilaterally proclaimed you can’t have those things.

I think the context of that conflation is different at SLACs. The Williams announcement has been an item of discussion at mine where it seems like we’re constantly trying to get admin to value our research output even half as much as the student pastoral work.

Might be more efficient to just point people to the Crowd Counting Consortium as they have extensive experience doing this. @crowdcounting.bsky.social They have a link for direct submissions of reports. They'll verify and clean the numbers.
