Tehran native Ali Kadivar, who is a sociology and international studies professor, commented on the impact the airstrikes may have on democratic movements in the @BostonGlobe.com bit.ly/Kadivar_BG062225

What I’ve learned from Bluesky is that Cuomo doesn’t want you to have these things.

Might as well gas up the car in the morning.

Fun fact. The founder of Oakley graduated from Pomona College.

Should associate professors chair anything? #academicsky

Derek Guy believes in the value of sociological theory.

Hey, academic folks. I notice a lot of you following g this account but it consistently posts unverified information. I don’t think it’s malicious, rather just sloppy. Consider unfollowing, muting, or at least not reposting.

Ah, summer, the season where the only student emails I get are from high schoolers doing independent research projects on something or another.

Once again relevant given local developments.

To correct the record, Dodgers have actually denied entry to ICE.

ICE has been all over Pomona and surrounding cities the past two days but there’s nary a story from our “local” newspaper the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. Coincidentally, the paper is owned by a corporation with a reputation for stripping journalism for parts.

I found it so offensive at the time. Rather like a 1980s miniseries of the Soviet takeover of the US.

Abolish ICE

The world was better when you could make your own mixtape for the original Walkman.

A Californian who pretends not to understand microclimates is a liar.

This is a satire of the Democratic Party's priorities right? Right?

This was the U2’s “Songs of Innocence” of military parades.

Lest anyone is still using the NYT for protest event data out there.

I saw a headline that the Minnesota assassin's motivation remains unknown. Which is preposterous. Further, Eric Schoon and I have written on how motivations can be inferred from the tactical repertoires of violent actors.

Only one guy seemed to recognize my IWW flag. I tried to fist bump the guy with antifa and saboteur cat flags but he was moving too fast.

Crowd here in Claremont is a 1000+.

Getting ready to head out to the local No Kings protest and wondering what genius thought it was smart to schedule it for the height of the hot afternoon in a town that is basically a retirement community.

This column, while good, is further evidence that the locus for study of protest has migrated from sociology to political science. Which is sad, because whenever I read the political science of protest it's clear they're not speaking their native tongue @asa-cbsm.bsky.social
