"I played a big joke on you by acting like a Nazi in public and making you think I'm a Nazi. Ha ha, oh man, you look like a big idiot now."

I am obligated to note that the Fort Bliss camp already exists and was used by the Biden admin to hold migrant children and teenagers. In 2021 I got whistleblower recordings of officials discussing filthy conditions and lack of medical care: reason.com/2021/05/24/s...

Basically every CPAC speaker is doing the Dwight Schrute Mussolini bit, and the media is so afraid of getting yelled at that they're just writing, "much gesticulating and passion at CPAC this year."

I spend a lot of mornings writing about what's going on in my backyard. It may seem useless, but one day I'm going to write a scene in a park, and the reader is going to be like, "Now there's a son of a bitch who's observed some trees."

An ability to describe things in the world is a basic creative writing skill you can isolate to learn much as an artist learns by, say, sketching a bench or trees in a park. It requires sustained practice and it's easy to tell who hasn't done it.

What’s wrong, babe? You haven’t touched your Eggo-brand alcoholic Appalachian sippin’ cream

However bad things get, it’s fun being here on bluesky with all of you. I feel like one of the screaming souls trapped in Freddy Krueger’s chest

Loveline gave me a lot of good info I wasn't getting anywhere else when I was a teenager, but damn it was toxic. Also, Dr. Drew turning out to be the bigger P.O.S. in the duo was a harbinger.

A former “Goon Squad” deputy described how he and others in the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department regularly entered homes without warrants, beat people to get information and illegally seized evidence that helped convict people of drug crimes. mississippitoday.org/2025/02/21/e...

"As a threshold matter, municipal governments cannot be libeled. You can say or print whatever you want about the legal entity of Clarksdale. I could write, for instance, that Clarksdale was founded by a syphilitic horse thief who married his cousin" reason.com/2025/02/20/m...

There's actually a rich history of small towns abolishing their corrupt police departments, and in some cases disincorporating entirely. I wrote about it a few years ago reason.com/2022/05/08/1...

"The Phoenix Police Department retaliated against a Black man by throwing him in jail for asking basic questions about why he had been stopped, according to a new lawsuit." His attorney also highlights the officers' use of "racially-tinged" comments. www.abc15.com/news/local-n...

The vintage newspapers articles that I found about yoga are WILD. Here's one headline: "Federal Inquiry Into Why Women Join With Hindus - Uncle Sam Worried Over Number Enticed Away by Soft-Voiced Swamis." reason.com/2025/02/19/w...

The Mississippi Legislature is NOT a "public body" and NOT subject to the Open Meetings Act under state law, a judge has ruled. That means a quorum of House Republicans will be able to continue to meet and make key legislative decisions in private. #MSLeg @nickjudin.bsky.social reports:

Lol

REVEALED: we identified the operator of an overtly racist X account, "GlomarResponder," as ICE Assistant Chief Counsel James Rodden, based on an overwhelming number of biographical details matched through publicly available documents, other social media activity, and courtroom observation.

Never forget, you are at all times and everywhere surrounded by petty tyrants who are just waiting for permission.

Wow: City of Clarksdale, Mississippi got a court order yesterday directing a newspaper to delete an editorial criticizing city officials -- without a hearing. Here's the TRO issuing the prior restraint:

and that means we're two steps away from NYPD killing a guy for selling loosie eggs

By the way, the Chief of Criminal is a hugely important person in a U.S. Attorney’s Office, one of the 3 most important people. The involvement of someone that high-level in a decision about a prosecution suggests shenanigans.

hiring two sets of bodyguards from an app and making them get into a shootout with each other while i drink a big soda

The top criminal prosecutor in the U.S. attorney's office in Washington quit today, citing pressure by the Trump administration to open what she viewed as an improper criminal probe of a federal contract. ca.news.yahoo.com/senior-u-pro...

Just once I want Rick Steves to end an episode with, "Until next time, keep on fuckin'!"

A wee manatee baby to bless your Friday timeline

AUSA Hagan Scotten, former clerk for John Roberts, really put some mustard on his resignation letter.

I don't often politically agree with libertarians but if they want to be the ones out there arguing to put some limits on sheriffs' powers... - thanks to @cjciaramella.bsky.social for the review. reason.com/2025/01/28/r...

4th Cir., 2-1, holds it did not violate 4A for detective to include true-ish (but technically false) information in an affidavit that led 17 year old to be arrested and detained for 65 days for a crime he didn't commit bc it was urgent. www.ca4.uscourts.gov/opinions/231...

One of the great joys of modern online is doing all the masculine stuff that conservatives performatively value (I have a wife and kid and change the oil on my own car!) and then catching hate from unfuckable weirdos who've never had a real job.

she's doing a noise set

me in the RFK wellness camp because I got ADHD and can't remember what days the trash goes out

What's the difference between filing a civil lawsuit & filing a charge (criminal complaint)? Civil cases involve disputes between individuals or organizations, often seeking monetary compensation or specific actions, while criminal charges involve offenses against government. No charges filed here.👇

maybe single people easy crackers. we don’t know. frankly, we don’t want to know.

Chris Gatlin spent 17 months in jail after an AI program incorrectly linked him to a crime. Police coerced the victim into picking Gatlin in a lineup despite the victim's assertions he could not recall his attacker. fox2now.com/news/fox-fil...

Trump may be moving towards disobeying court orders that go against him. This is a dire threat to the constitutional system, that must be headed off: reason.com/volokh/2025/...
