Pulling up the actual study, it much more reads as "stop trying to shoehorn romance and/or sex into stories that don't need it", at least to me. Not "less sex in TV/movies", just "less sex in TV/movies that aren't romance-focused".

I think it's safe to say that this guidebook cannot be considered a canonical source of Silent Hill lore, unless we can find definitive proof that Mr Koguchi consulted w/ Team Silent. @voidburger.bsky.social

Found it! Their credited Konami source* was Tomoaki Koguchi, a manager from the Dance Dance Revolution team. *The only of the 4 listed credits that worked at Konami. (I'm using Google Translate on the original Japanese text. It's far from perfect, but good enough for this basic stuff.

Okay, monkey wrench time. I've just been going through a digital scan of this guidebook, and I cannot find a single mention of who their source from Team Silent / Konami was. As best as I can tell, Mohe Shiraishi is just the strategy guide company's writer.

To be extra fair, a lot of the White Claudia drug ring sub-plot is tucked away in optional locations and fairly easily missable.

Time for some speedrun de-rust perhaps? Just spit-balling.

Why am I sorely tempted now to see just how depraved of artwork someone could make said "artist" spend hours/days of their lives working on?

Was gonna say the same, though they are pretty good about migrating stuff to YT.

The truly baffling part is that data storage (in the context of tech infrastructure) is dirt cheap, and we know they already OWN the hard drives & server racks. They planning on just flooding the market w/ old recertified drives?

If all this was was a tool for streamlining compatibility & optimization testing, I wouldn't mind so much, but we all know that's not the case.

Has anybody done a Leon Kennedy (for example) canon story run? Essentially, every campaign/scenario Leon is playable in canon order, so RE2, 4, & 6 if I remember right. Obviously, no need to play both OG & Remakes, as they're the "same" story.

Accurate. Most of the "world" history taught (mostly in secondary school) is British history as it relates to the US - independence, War of 1812, etc - and the events leading to WW1 & 2.

It's one thing to maybe mix up Benin from Sierra Leone (no offense meant, central Africans!), but I've legitimately met people (fellow Americans) who thought Iraq was in/near the southwest US, "because that's where the desert is".

My elementary taught us at least a couple years of basic Spanish but then never brought it up again. It was honestly a bit odd in retrospect, because growing up in Indiana in the 90's, there was virtually zero need (or even use) for it.

Oh yes, not a single soul ever works on a project before it's publicly announced. Never. Not for a movie, TV show, video game, album, comic, or any other media. The first tease is a surprise for everyone! Even the production team!

If it changes anything, “She’s Israeli, but she’s not Mossad. Now she works in the U.S. government” & a former Black Widow, according to a recent Variety interview w/ Nate Moore, a producer.

Favorite coffee shop I ever visited - Ghost Alley Espresso in Seattle - a *tiny* hole-in-the-wall under Pike Place Market (next to the famous gum wall).

I've literally seen cases where a game's "mixed" on Steam, because they promised a specific language available on release but couldn't finish the translation in time. Legit complaint, but utterly meaningless to much/most of the market.

Can't quite decide if the idea's amusing, terrible, terribly amusing, or amusingly terrible.

And no, getting really high and doom-scrolling TikTok doesn't count as an "Immortality-like".

Gorgeous! One of my favorite spots when I visited a "few" years back.

And owned by foreign companies, yes. American-made but not American-owned.
comment in response to post
Correct. Most got bought out by one or another major corporation over the years.

Many of the big ones are owned by foreign companies nowadays. Those're probably the safest bets. I just pulled a bunch of them up on Wikipedia.

Most of the big names are owned by foreign companies - Suntory, Campari, Diageo, etc.
comment in response to post
Maker's Mark, Jim Beam, & Knob Creek (among others) are all owned by Suntory (Japanese). Wild Turkey is owned by Campari (Italian). Looks like they're aiming mostly at American-owned, maybe even just red-state owned.

Also, the "That price is insane! I already own it on cd. I'm not paying that!" nonsense drives me nuts sometimes. Okay, buddy. Good luck getting that working right on your Windows 11 machine w/ no disc drive.

Do we ever see anyone other than high ranking Shinra employees using a cellphone? Maybe the flip phone was one of the early commercially available models after the fall of Shinra?
