Without raising taxes or cutting defense (untenable to do either for rs) I think the only way they balance the budget is slashing social security, Medicare, or Medicaid

They need to slash spending because he really really doesn’t want to raise the debt limit and wants to renew his cuts (why the limit is a big deal this time as opposed to the last where it was a fake big deal is beyond me)

Oh I agree with that, part of me just wonders why I should want to return to the system that led to this. Even if we get this cleaned up in the next 6 months-6years, what’s stopping us from ending up back here again before I die
