Shoulder update: slept all night last night, no waking up due to pain, and this morning was the first morning where I haven't needed painkillers. Next up is healing my stomach from all the painkillers I've been taking 😵

A woodlouse for sure. Resilient, enjoys dark places, curls up in self defence.

Shoulder update: it still hurts but it's getting better everyday thanks to yoga, physio exercises, amyltrypteline. I've been doing fireside asana every day this week and it's been lush. Yoga saves my ass, yet again.

Holiday reading.... didn't think I'd get through all of these but it's a rainy week in the Lake District. I highly recommend NeuroQueer CJ DeBarra which explores the intersections between neurodivergence, sex, kink, sexuality and relationships in a v readable way.

"... the trip we're on as human beings is so beautiful and it has the happiest of happy endings. Everything is okay. There's nothing to worry about. Everything is just beautiful." David Lynch in 'Room to Dream'

The view from where I am in the Lake District (England)❤️

I'm on holiday in the Lake District. Last night I slept for 12 hours solid - unprecedented! - and now I feel superhuman

Nothing like a bit of Lacanian film analysis too early on a Saturday, after a stressful month: youtu.be/FYuI4SFw4g0?...

Allegory alert!

Just remembering that time in the late 00s when everything on Etsy had Slavoj Zizek's face on it. Everyone was obsessed with pugs, mustaches, cupcakes and Zizek. Then everything became about avocados and sloths.

watched Perfect Days by Wim Wenders today - an absolute masterpiece and the most incredible performance from Koji Yakusho. The last scene will stay with me for a long time.

Physio appointment this morning: I’m 75% healed! I have a recommendation of meds for nerve pain, and best of all, I am allowed to go back to the gym AND allowed to knit for 30 minutes a day. Whooohooo!!! Take THAT c6-c7 impingement!

i’m way too excited about a bluesky-based instagram replacement. i just really want musk / zuckerberg / all evil rich billionaires that control all online spaces to lose everything

The Edge of the World is spectacular, visionary and spiritual film making. The remote island is itself a character in this film. Some sections reminded me of the Banshees of Inishirin. Amazing that it was made in 1936.

This looks great: I've seen most of Powell's work but not this.

Week Four of excruciating shoulder pain: this week, the pain is mostly in my elbow, forearm and hand. So maybe this is how nerve damage heals? from the centre out? I hope so.

Next up is rewatching “Encouters at the End of the World” by Werner Herzog because I am doing a lot of research for my work about outsiders and edges, and this is a strong example of both. watchdocumentaries.com/encounters-a...

I highly recommend “Before Stonewall” on Mubi: a documentary about queer life from the 30s until Stonewall. Very moving, beautiful, and poignant given what is happening to our trans siblings in 2025.

OK, my shoulder is better today than it has been for three weeks and I’m wrestling the urge to knit things.

Went to Caerphilly Castle today and it was eerie. Some Polaroids (monochrome film tho it makes little difference in Wales this time of year)

Would have been Jack Lemmon’s hundredth birthday today. Not just one of the great actors, but also possessor of the best gravestone in existence.

kanye this kanye that kan ye all just shut up about him forever

I know it’s FAR from the main priority, but we should NOT be allowing Musk to take ‘doge’ from us. Kabosu the Shiba Inu was a golden girl of pure delight, and this prick is besmirching her meme and memory. She brought people together in simple joy, the very opposite of the Musk MO. TAKE BACK DOGE. 🐕

I got Mubi for three months for one quid! So far, I’ve had a great time watching Adaptation, then Frank, then the Gleaners and I. Next up, Queer and some more Agnes Varda.

Am I incapacitated and currently unable to knit? Yes. Do I have WIPs to be finished? Yes. Have I placed a yarn order and bought a new pattern to knit? Also yes.

Rewatching Adaptation, since most the performances and characters have lived rent free in my head since I first watched it (especially the imperious Chris Cooper).

Looking to understand the political aspect of neurodiversity then this is for you. It’s short, easy to read and to the point. This book should be read by those on the left for we need more books which show how the class system is at the root of the struggle of autistic and neurodivergent people.

“Any fight for liberation that’s does not include the plight of Autistic people, neurodivergent people, disabled people, and all those whose lives inhabit any of those categories, is not a fight for liberation at all “ Jodie Hare, The Politics of Neurodiversity

Currently reading.... I find it impossible to read one book at a time. And still can't get back into novels.

This is huge. My petition got approved. It challenges the UK government to the lift the Puberty Blocker ban on the grounds that it contradicts article 8 of The United Nations Convention On The Rights Of The Child. Please sign and Repost ✊️🏳️‍⚧️ petition.parliament.uk/petitions/70...
