I explained to my boss how when I'm mad or frustrated I cry. He said he just gets mad and yells. I explained women don't have that privilege. We're taught to be quiet, be polite. If we yell were hysterical, over reacting or a "Karen", so the only release is to cry. He never thought of it that way.

I know now that things aren’t that simple. But sometimes I still catch myself thinking it really shouldn’t be that hard to empathize.

I think this highlights one of the big reasons why self-ID autism is VALID SO much of what we are distressed about has to do w/ feeling like our sensory experiences are somehow exaggerated we are called dramatic we are disbelieved but the research tells us that Autistic people DO feel this way!
