Had that album at a time when life raising a family was a struggle. Don’t Give Up resonated, and the rest were all wonderfully crafted songs by a great artist.

This was 1972. Those days were quite adventurous. We hitched back to Yosemite Valley just to see it, still hungry, big blister on my heel than after a night in the valley hitched back home to Sacramento. Colin Fletchers book led us to believe anything was possible.

John Muir Trail. Hiked with a high school friend from Tuolumne Meadows half the length of the JMT and bailed at Florence Lake. 8 nights out. Only 15. We were very hungry toward the end. Amazing experience.

Check out the old Perry Mason episodes for some real smoking’ scenes. Makes everything else fairly tame.
