Film the police went to the fire repair yard to see the broken fire trucks for himself. We have dozens of rigs sitting unusable because the city axed mechanic positions. While it’s normal to have some out of service at any given time, our rates are way too high and hurt our fire response

Re: LAFD Budget Seeing City officials in the press ignore the severe impacts of these budget cuts, especially the ones covering for their poor budget decisions to cut a majority of departments' budgets & even AFTER Chief Crowley told them about the impacts these cuts have had, is DISGRACEFUL.

Many people ignoring the data, but hear it straight from the LAFD Chief’s mouth. Karen Bass/City Council underfunded and understaffed the fire department. That undermined the preparedness and response. If you’re not willing to hold politicians accountable, expect the next crisis to be even worse.

People defending Karen Bass/City Council: just know that LAFD requested 301 new positions in last year’s budget, but she countered with a proposal to cut 71. Stop spreading inept politicians’ propaganda. If we do not hold them accountable for their massive failures, the next crisis will be worse.

These are screenshots from LAFD’s own report about the impact of the budget cut on their ability to prevent and fight fires.

I don’t have a following, but I want to get something off my chest about the whole LAFD budget cut discourse. The backlash to the initial posts about a $23 million cut was first that it was false, then that it was true but actually only $17 million, then that it wouldn’t have mattered anyway… (1/4)

It’s clear that the Democratic PR machine is targeting Los Angeles right now. “Oh people are starting to make the connections about giving the police billions while critical services are being cut? TIME TO GASLIGHT!” Don’t fall for it.

Was LAFD defunded by $17.5 million? YES Some council offices and the mayor are now trying to cover for their disastrous budget by claiming that they approved new LAFD contracts, which happened 6 months AFTER they approved the FY24-25 budget, leading to services and 58 LAFD positions cut

Today, we learned our friend Andre died. Six unhoused Angelenos die every day. This is a policy decision that elected officials could change tomorrow. This is the war on the poor.
