Third cheapest country in Europe to found a business (after Slovenia and Ukraine). Not sure if that's good or bad!

Just listened to Alf Dubs on Desert Island Discs. In 2015 when I first ran for the council, a man called Alf rang me and we met at the Brentford Towers. I was amazed that an 82 year old Lord would turn out to help me. Courteous, friendly, humble man. I was honoured. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alf_Dub...

My weekly Councillor Blog. Number 486 in a series! manage.wix.com/dashboard/62...

New York has never been more welcoming....

Cars I have known and what I called them. Ford Zodiac Mk 2 616AKA (Our Car) Carlton D994KMT (Kick Margaret Thatcher) Zephyr 6 Really Zephyr 5 because it was knackered 47 FCD (Fu**ed) Audi Cabriolet LC51CNA (Elsie Canner). Why do I remember all this drivel when I forget most people's names?

There are some benefits from being deaf. BBC subtitles today regarding the deal between Trump and Starmer had pleased both of them, and the meeting was full of smells. Correction : it was full of smiles. Subtitles often provide giggles 🤣

Great to see Hounslow - Brentford Boat Club and their mainly state school team - second in overall competition, making local boroughs like Richmond, Hammersmith and Kingston look sick. Hackney, look out - Hounslow look to take away your carriage in 2026 😂 www.londonyouthgames.org/wp-content/u...

Don't say I didn't warn you.... hopenothate.org.uk/2025/06/13/d...

Lidl has truly arrived;

I am not usually very good at long interviews but I found this compelling and I learnt quite a lot about Starmer. I'm a bit like him as I am by preference a manager www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCHu...

Fantastic results for Hounslow at the London Youth Games. Credit the Brentford Community Boathouse charity bcbh.org.uk and Team Keane, supported by LBH Thriving Communities and Lampton Leisure. Bronze medal to the whole team. 2 Golds, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals for this young & new team!

Reform's Richard Tice showing he's "thrilled to bits" at the count in Hamilton as his party, which expected to win, came in third behind Labour and SNP. I wonder how he would look when he's disappointed (from Guardian)

New menu at the Potting shed in Boston manor park

Nigel Farage says abortion laws are “utterly ludicrous.” MPs are watching. We have days to show them: the public backs abortion rights. Join me and sign the petition now! you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/de...

The Unity Cup. Final is at Brentford famous Vacuum Cleaner Stadium between Jamaica vs Nigeria. The guy I spoke to, though was from Trinidad, and it looked a very joyful event. The Grauniad seemed to agree www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Oh I meant the River Brent. Though Brentford is famous for fords for Julius Caesar for one. Not Julia Caesar as my phone would prefer

7 swans, 1 heron (just had lunch sorry Mr Fish), several ducks and geese, crows above with green parakeets. Low tide on the River Brentford just now. ♥️

I remember sparrows as part of life when I was a child. Now House Sparrows have been on the RSPB red list for endangered species for some time. Help them (or swifts) with a sparrow box for your garden. 41 free boxes available! airqualitybrentford.wordpress.com/2025/05/28/s...

38d.gs/zcnm The damage caused to all of us by allowing children to grow up in poverty is extensive. I want well-nourished, happy children growing up proud of our country, feeling valued and eager to play a positive part in our country. Failing at this leads to a diminished country and people.

May 27 (Reuters) - Tesla's sales in Europe fell 49% in April from a year earlier, even though battery-electric car sales rose 27.8%, as the U.S. EV maker's upgrade of its Model Y shows little sign of reviving the brand's fortunes in the region So sad

Fantastic work by Brentford Boat Club and its partners. Making the rivers buzz with local youngsters. Small club with little resource. Let's all get behind them and give the charity a few quid. www.instagram.com/reel/DKEuHdY...

In Telegraph so obv true: "Al Moy, 38, an investment banker and father of three, received a letter from his daughter’s school saying they were increasing their fees by £10,000. We earn £345k, but soaring school fees mean we can’t go on five holidays" Labour targeting vulnerable people. Shameful.

For beer fanciers who like to support one of our local museums in Brentford (there are more museums!)

Today! Don't miss this event in our beautiful revived riverside park

Nigel Farage is very predictable. www.theguardian.com/politics/202... His dedication to the improvement of Clacton is reminiscent of his dedication to his job in the European Parliament, which had similar level of activity.

Hard to admitthis. Although I'm an experienced person and a former accountant, I was taken for a lot of money by a spoofer. A 'family member' asked for help paying a bill because of a mix up at the bank. I agreed and paid a couple of bills. Next day I had a message from @nationwideuk.bsky.social

Trying to get this going in Brentford. Utilities won't even fix these cabinets when they are vandalised. Our Highways contractor Hounslow Highways (not on Bluesky 😱) are up for it but @hounslowcouncil.bsky.social do 0. This will inspire me to have another go. Well done @emilykerr36.bsky.social

Lets not forget how the cost overruns led to calls to stop (what was then) Crossrail. The Elizabeth line has been a huge success 👇🏻. Instead of running away from doing major transport projects, the UK needs to get better at delivering them on time & on budget 🚉🚝

What's happened to Companies House Search site? Suddenly it is painfully slow and often returns "502 Bad Gateway". Previously it was very reliable. ANybody know?

Cost cutter in Brentford is an excellent convenience shop. Brentford lost both it's convenience local hardware/ household shops in recent years. Now we have a new one 🥂

Good message from Ruth and it's time we started to try to bring this rogue government in Israel into line with civilised principles. Good podcast on Guardian in focus about Israeli opposition. Stop this one sided war/genocide

New service coming to Brentford shortly, joint venture between Amazon and Uber

Does Trump realise this nonsense makes him a laughing stock?

And helps with queues at borders for those who travel internationally! Irritating for holidaymakers but can be a serious issue for people who travel for business.

Live music just started down at Waterman's park. Be quick - only here until about 6

Great stuff at the Steam Museum for the half term! My favourite local museum is blowing its safety valve and having lots of fun for us all waterandsteam.org.uk

A post by local garden activist Karen Liebreich reposted on Create Streets and thence on the London Minute. The London Minute is published every day (ish) and I read it most days. A good read and takes, umm, a minute. www.createstreets.com/ginkgo-corne...

I agree @bellribeiroaddy.bsky.social Heard you on Guardian Politics Weekly podcast with @johnharris1969.bsky.social. You spoke clearly and convincingly, and also respectfully of Keir Starmer. I'm in a similar place, and similarly depressed. Thank you.

Re your enquiry about the graffiti at Back Lane, Brentford. We asked developer to remove graffiti within 7 days. Yesterday there was a graffiti removal team carrying out the removal. Well done Hounslow Highways, Lidl and their contractor

Another thoughtful Reformer www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/...

Thank god we have Reform councillors, respecting th Farage culture. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

A privilege to attend Speak Out in Hounslow. Full of joy and love. Makes my week 😊

I think I quite like the sound of a woke, Marxist Pope. Sorry, to translate for the MAGAs, that's WOKE MARXIST POPE.

All true, but he won't be poorer. He's perfected how to raid public funding without doing any work whilst making a fortune from work that pays even better. He used to milk the EU. Now he's taken back control and milks us Brits exclusively

Britain's wealth was built on theft from poor nations. It's not charity. It's the least we can do.

110,833 health and care work visas, 27,174 for applicants and 83,659 for dependents in the year 2024, down from 348,157 in 2023. Due to scrutiny of employers in the health and social care sector, and action against employers. Home Office data. Big drop. Not sure implications but figures surprising
