I am sure that as mayor I would work closely with them on the skills agenda for the future and how we could collectively shape this region's fortunes.

I moved here 25 years ago to study, but fell in love with the place and have made a life here. I know this has been the case for many of the 160,000 graduates of the institution.
I also know it serves a vital role for this region, helping give the skills so many need for their future success.

I definitely wouldn't want a Reform government. On the troubles for the Conservatives, I know what you are saying. I don't think it is automatic that their demise has to see Reform be the only ones to benefit. A sensible new Conservative party has to be the preference.

You could have a centre right government. You could have a Reform one. You couldn't have one that is both.
