I’ve never heard this quote before. Just lovely.

I love this memoir- so wonderful. I’m currently reading Play it As It Lays. I’ve never read her fiction before, so it will be interesting to see what it is like. (Edited 18:58 via @skeetsapp.com)

I didn’t think Intermezzo was as good as her other novels. I felt like you it was a bit bloated.

James Baldwin is really good. I’ve read Dark Days and it’s fantastic.

I much preferred it. I don’t think protagonists of a novel have to be likeable but I find it more enjoyable reading experience when the characters are.

Love the one of the cat sat in the sink. 💕 🐈‍⬛

I’m feeling rather upbeat at the moment with spring in the air, so it’ll be lovely to have a nice relaxing day curled up with this book. It will be interesting reading something from when she was a younger woman. Ive ordered Notes to John but feel conflicted about reading it.

I found the characters far more likeable in Conversations With Friends

I love this book, the chapter on stone was so interesting. Beautiful cover too. Have you read Peter Ross’ other book ‘A Tomb With A View’? I listened to it on radio 4 and it was great

Cat seems happy kitty to me. The man would be scratched to smithereens if not.

Tulip Fever sounds an interesting read! Did you end up watching the movie adaptation too?

The characters feel so rich and complex—Dorothea’s idealism, Casaubon’s rigidity, Rosamund’s charm (and flaws). And I’ll have to check out that Substack—sounds like a great guide to Tolstoy. I’m currently doing a readalong to To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf! 😀

One chapter a day of War and Peace sounds like a fantastic pace! It’s on my TBR pile. Middlemarch has been incredible so far—such a rich and thoughtful story. What do you love most about it?

I love this book. It makes me feel desperately sad but the relationship between Ludwig and Mrs. Palfrey is so well drawn.

I’m reading The Cat Inside by William S. Burroughs. So movingly and evocatively written. 🐈🐈‍⬛🐈

I’m sorry it’s closing down - what a shame!
