I totally do this - it's one of my more frequent typos and usually occurs when I am tired. I also periodically transpose letters (or numbers, it's actually worse with numbers) or add letters at the end of a word.

Can confirm that foreigners are generally more excused for having tattoos, though if you go into the rural areas you might get some stares lol. Lots of places have relaxed their attitudes on visible tattoos to encourage tourism, but I always checked with places like onsen to make sure they were ok.

I got a tattoo in Tokyo! It was a little awkward because he didn't speak much English and I didn't speak much Japanese but we managed! We loved the Ghibli museum but it's very hard to get tickets! There's also a squirrel sanctuary and it's so cool but pretty far out of the city centre.
