Seriously. "Look at the left" No. Look at a power hungry politician who pretended to be left when he thought it would gain him power, then switched sides when he thought that was the path. I hate this fuck head. Possibly as much as I hate trump.

Before my health took a turn, I used to drive around and do that. Much easier to do when you're right there though.

The hood/ghetto.

Same. Lmao.

Part of me is grateful I was able to escape, and become somewhere between the 3 and 5%. A much, much larger part of me feels survivors guilt, for the so many people that won't ever escape.

My bad, I didn't see the reveal trailer. It looks awesome man, I can't wait.

Of course. You don't have to explain yourself to me, or indeed reply at all. I appreciate the time you're taking.

And don't get me wrong, I get what you're frustrated about. But all we're doing is driving a deeper divide. Knock it off.

Especially on the lefts part. We can't even stop fighting internally, let alone against a party we see as the blue GOP. But the fact is, if it isn't too late already, we need to. If we don't, then it will be too late.

It's also kind of useless to address their behavior. Or complain about them. You're not going to fix or change their minds. What really needs to happen, is the Democratic party and the left need to stop fighting and unify. Don't have much faith here...

Oh cool, what is this game going to be about? It looks awesome.

No. The other woman I was talking to, when you posted the link.

When I said bridge the divide, I absolutely didn't intend to portray that as I'm right and you're wrong. I want to stop the behaviors in my side of the party, just as much as I want to be understood. I'm happy to put aside being understood and focus on my side.

I promise I will hold my side accountable. I've been guilty here too. Never intentionally and I do always try to be aware. But it doesn't change anything. My aim here was to grow. How could I have presented myself better? I wanted to share my perspective, and learn yours.

When I see my side causing a divide, I address it, or try to. I've been unintentionally guilty here too, I'm always learning. I make mistakes along the way. It's inevitable.
comment in response to post
Went wrong? Was there something else, from your perspective? I didn't, and still don't, understand how I was telling anyone to think. I only shared a perspective and asked for the other view points. I said I wanted to bridge the divide, my intention was never one sided there.

To me, I was just being attacked. I tried to show that I did not know. Which only led to more. I was on the defensive at that point, which that article points out is part of the problem. By the time I finished reading that, I was blocked. So I guess my first question is, is that where I...

Thank you for taking the time! So, the part I don't understand, is that I had no idea about race when I originally commented. I want to be a part of the solution, not the problem. The first reply I received was that I was racist, because it was obviously a black conversation.

I'm very sorry. I meant I understood taking in information and having my head spin. I do not know what it feels like to be a minority in America. I have only seen a tiny portion of it. I never meant to imply otherwise.
comment in response to post
I do not. I know only what I have observed. I've seen my privilege save me, time and time again. I can never understand. I will never experience it first hand. You'll see no argument here. I can only say I've witnessed it.

Unless you mean "you" in the group sense, in which case I agree with you completely.

I'm more than happy to be educated. I'm ok with uncomfortable conversations, and being wrong. If you'd be willing to tell me, I'm happy to listen.

I watched a friend get arrested while I was let go, we were both guilty of the same crime, at the same time. As for not questioning, maybe I am guilty there. It's not malice on my part, maybe I just don't know what questions to ask, or maybe not.

I've learned how places like black wall street were hidden from me. The wholesale slaughter of innocent men, women and children. I know this persists to this day. I've seen it with my own eyes. I've been pulled over, a passenger, because the driver was guilty of driving while black.

So, I have been incredibly vocal about Rowling. Not recently, as I haven't paid much attention. Beyond that, I was a troubled child. I saw first hand how black people get treated by the police, and corrections officers. How if I had been black, things would have been very different.

Yikes. I'm sorry. We come in a variety of shapes and sizes, I won't even begin to defend that. There are definitely pockets of us that are assholes. I haven't seen that in the groups I cohort with, and I wouldn't accept it. Perhaps it's only my group where what I said is true?

It's getting harder and harder to have faith this country can still be saved with each passing day. If, somehow, we get a fair election in 2028, if we lose, we definitely won't get one in 2032.

In all my excitement, I totally missed that excellent joke. :-P

And sorry @godfly.bsky.social for blowing up your post. this is one of my two autistic special interests. The other one I was luckily able to teach myself, and am considered a subject matter expert in, even at fortune 500s.

And redundant pumps, on each independent cooling loop. There are also multiple containments. I find nuclear reactors fascinating. Too bad I'm too poor to go do nuclear physics and get a job as an operator. Lol.
comment in response to post
And for the engineers out there, there are basically no common mode failure points. Redundant cooling, control systems, backup power systems, and multiple automatic and independent, fail safes, including independent monitors that will scram the reactor, should an operator fail to do so.
comment in response to post
I am trivializing this a lot, but for the general public, this is an accurate view. All the general public needs to know is that there is a hazard, and understand time, distance, and shielding.
comment in response to post
Nuclear safety is very, very simple. Time. Distance. Shielding. Minimize exposure time. Maximize distance. Put as much as possible between you and the source, the denser the material, provided it's not itself radioactive, the better. All you need to know, is the source direction, and a warning.

Newer reactors take the pressurized water reactor, shrink it down, and drop it deep into the ground. In the event of a meltdown, you just leave it buried. Practically zero risk.
comment in response to post
Newer reactor designs, such as molten salt thorium tractors, are immune to this type of failure, if they overheat, the reaction stops. There is no risk of a meltdown. It needs heavy safety regulations, for sure. It's not zero risk.
comment in response to post
Like, to expand on this. Take Fukushima. They took risks, despite being warned. And even then, it took a tsunami, and an earthquake. Which did result in a catastrophic reactor failure. It didn't come close to Chernobyl. Not remotely. A majority of the radiation was contained.
comment in response to post
Fission is incredibly safe, plus, fusion is only 10 years away, like it has been for 60+ years. The disinformation around radiation is wild.

That explains my chronic online problem.

Don't worry, the way we're headed, we'll be back in 1862 before you know it. Then they'll take the hoods off, and we'll know who to... Give an extra breathing hole... In the forehead.

I genuinely wanted to have a real conversation about politics, and was at no point aware of any racism, implicit or otherwise. Maybe I was being defensive of the hostility? If you're willing, I'd greatly appreciate your input. And thank you for posting this. I'm sorry I didn't see it before she

She blocked me, before I had a chance to read this. I really didn't, and still don't understand. I came for a political discussion, entirely unaware of any race involved. I just wanted Democrats and the left to stop vilifying each other. Can you help me understand where I was wrong here?

Ah, sorry, I didn't see it. You're right. I had notifications between this very long chain. I apologize for missing it. I'll go look at it now.
