Agree this is a risk but depends on the actual trustees involved and their trust in their executive team. My own experience (7 years to last summer) was trustees allowing space for exec to do the work but stepped up their own scrutiny of that.

Another Carcassonne vote. We played this almost daily during the pandemic shutdowns when my son was 13-14 then continued adding more of the packs. Still a favourite in our house now (when he's back from college). Labyrinth was our gateway drug to get to Carcassonne.

Try this. Not new - 1977 but achingly relevant to current developments. Don't be fooled by the gently Medieval opening 68 seconds. youtu.be/tvcFV8aeCsQ

Recent Guardian opinion piece prompted, in part, by my own HEI announcing 200, mainly non-academic, job losses over next two years. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

So far, new government has done little to help. They did announce inflationary rate increase to home fees for next academic year. But this has been more than obliterated by changes to employee tax (national Insurance).
comment in response to post
Most HEIs have upped international student numbers since there were no caps on fee increases. But last government changed visa conditions allowing dependents to accompany those students. This is impacting numbers there.

Simultaneously we have seen failure to grow government research funding across sector. Some areas have done ok, most haven’t. There has been outright hostility to arts and humanities.

Plus, much of that inflation driven by energy/utility costs which adversely affects HEIs with large estate footprint.

UK government have frozen the fees we can charge home undergraduates for past 8 years. Think how far that has put us behind even without the inflation bulge of past few years.

🤣 touché! As geologists we benefit from a less subjective record than our humanitarian siblings.

This would require an objectively “true” history.

I was thinking more of the progression of colours, which occur in a variety of ways. The parallel reply on soapy water is an example. Others that would have been accessible to Sowerby include lunar coronas (which are NOT rainbows). www.istockphoto.com/photo/phenom...
