Wait, I thought the reason so many companies were making people RTO was because of the sandwiches? Are we supporting local businesses by having people in offices so they must go out and buy sandwiches or not? (/s)

To help simplify: "The community have the access to bluesky that they need to make cool apps and other stuff that interfaces directly with bluesky - some people have already started making things and you can join them."

Massive kudos to your team and a personal high 5 to your moderation and trust / safety team members, I've been where you are and it's like paddling a dumpster fire down a laser shark waterfall - the site is so, so clean and safe feeling! 🎉

Completely! Different perspectives (and the curiosity to learn from them) aren't just valid, they're instrumental in our ability to thrive, together, to be better than ourselves. No one benefits from a closed echo chamber, we all need new ideas and ways of being - just not at the expense of others!

My favourite way of thinking about this is to frame tolerance as a social contract - if you break the contract then you are no longer covered by it's terms:

'I'm so tired of the hostility to honest curiosity' really hit hard.
We see learning framed as 'metrics', we are pressured for 'dashboards' and 'measurements' - demonstrative learning.
But learning is human, an embodied experience. It's so much more than numbers or 'framings.'
BIG UGH.

I just replied to someone above but I think holding the energy / hope is super important (and so hard to do). This article helped me wrap my head around next steps in a healthy way, maybe it will help you too:

I'd say yes. It is our most valuable weapon. Fear separates and gives reasons for people to obey. Hope gives us each other and a path forward. Self care is also vital, it's okay to need to grieve - this article really helped me visualise things so maybe it will help?

No strings attached, no automatic funnels, no marketing bullshit, just some humans talking, connecting, and learning to change systems, together - We'll be there next Wednesday, 9.30am UK time (English speaking, open to anyone in the world).

You Rang?
I'm a feral enby (afab) socialist type with a touch of the ole 'tism and my co-worker is a lovely AFAB lady with physical disabilities.
Completely understand if you don't wanna follow an organisation account though! (We do have a pet white dude but I promise he is house trained).

Instead of a boring list, watching Kahn in action can show you *how* it is done by people who really know how to dig into social media, so you can work out what you may want to set to private or restrict for yourself :)

If you're not sure where to start / how deep to go / want to look at it from a more fun angle (and you are okay using the clock app) I recommend watching Kahn's videos - she consensually doxx's her followers and can find people with very little info (and she's fun to watch) (Cont)

Depending on what you are worried about you can be safe without ticking all those boxes or buying anyone's software - just by being aware of what other people can see of you.
Pretend you don't know yourself and google yourself, see what other people might be able to find. (Cont)

Social media manager with AuDHD reporting for duty. (I'm Lara, yes this is a company account, no I'm not sorry and neither is my boss, yet :P)
Protecting yourself online doesn't need to be 100 steps - it's all about information control. (cont)
