The fuck? This is untenable. Dude is a walking security threat.

Credit where credit is due, I think giving mothers $5000 a month is a reasonable way to help against the rising cost of—- sorry, what?? $5000, total? To have a baby in THIS COUNTRY?

King Donald's latest decree on #DeepSeaMining reaches out to grasp ~54% of the surface of our planet... ...the area of the ocean floor that lies beyond boundaries of national jurisdictions: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... Here's a thread about some of the issues with it 🧵👇

Trump stating that Russia has made a substantial concession by “not taking the whole country” is the weirdest thing he’s ever said, and he’s said a lot of weird stuff. Might as well just surrender the USA to Russia because they’ve done us a favor by not nuking us. Trump: “I surrender”.

The ocean is not beholden to the burn-rate of private companies.

There are 193 countries + Vatican City and Palestine (UN observer states). I guess he made deals with seven new countries that nobody knows about.

has anyone studied this

It's wild that all my colleagues who are funded by a deep sea mining company to research the topic ultimately conclude that we shouldn't mine the deep sea. We should stop seeing the ocean as a place to exploit instead of a place of wonder and beauty and an essential part of our life support system.

This is turning into an evergreen post -- just switch out EO on "Pacific Islands Heritage" to EO on "Deep Sea Mining" www.southernfriedscience.com/5-things-you...

Part 2, in which I ask the all important question: are there even any civil servants left in NOAA or DOI who could actually fulfill this permit expedition mandate? www.southernfriedscience.com/understandin...

There are many things on Navy vessels today that could allow private companies to track a ship’s location, but most are personal crew devices and that can be dealt with easily. Starlink terminals are different. Elon’s relationship with Putin is questionable. If I were CO, I’d toss it in the ocean!

I've got a lot to say about the deep-sea mining executive order. I'll be rolling it out in digestible chunks throughout the day, starting with this quick primer: Understanding the Executive Order on Deep-sea Mining and Critical Minerals: Part 1, what are we talking about?

WE SAT DOWN FOR DINNER AND WE'VE GOT DINNER AND A SHOW HAHAHAHAHAHA

“On Friday morning, the Trump administration informed courts and lawyers for the students that it was changing its posture. It did so as judges were getting ready to put ICE officials on the stand to question them about the administration’s actions.” I guess ICE officials are allergic to questions.

My eldest daughter Claudia once asked me why there isn’t a provision that says that convicted felons can’t be president and this was *exactly* my answer

Two days ago he said eggs were down 95%.

This is your regular reminder that executive orders are not royal decrees. Because America has no king.

President Trump issued an executive order that makes a move toward issuing permits to deep sea mining corporations in both U.S. and international ocean waters. This move threatens fragile ocean ecosystems and communities for minimal gain and attempts to circumvent international law.

i do wonder how things go when FEMA gets mcnuked and Hurricane season is awful to Florida this year

The ocean conservation elites will start jetsetting around the world in the coming days and weeks for Our Ocean and the UN Ocean Conference -- please don't forget to mention people in the many commitments and promises you make

Hearing rumors of a Deep-sea Mining Executive Order coming out today. That being said, at least one person whose credibility I trust has texted me pretty much every day for the last two months that they're hearing rumors of an imminent DSM EO. So... maybe 🤷‍♀️

Administrative errors. Unauthorized memos. Accidental defunding. The excuses keep piling up as the Trump administration stumbles from one blunder to the next. As Donald's reign of error marches on, could his incompetence be his undoing?

This 1st-3rd century bronze crab is incredibly lifelike. We reckon someone might even be able to determine its actual species. 🦀

A briefly dated this guy before I discovered he owned Jordan Peterson books, and it all made sense in the end because he would hack into apps to change his gaming scores when he didn't like them. Anyway those types of men are running our government now.

News media loves covering offshore wind protests. Yesterday I covered a 100-person rally *supporting* offshore wind in NYC. www.canarymedia.com/articles/off... Attendees: electricians, retirees, college grads, charter boat captions, and a whale biologist. The local CBS affiliate was there too👇

💥 BREAKING: Levi Strauss shareholders voted today to reject a proposal calling on the company to cease / abolish all DEI efforts (tally TBD). LEVI Board: “Diversity and inclusion principles are critical in ensuring that our products reflect and are relevant to our diverse global consumer base.”

There is an entire political movement that believes the statement “if you work full-time in America, you should be able to pay your bills and have a savings account with your paycheck” is radical. We must come to an agreement that it’s not radical to demand that.

BREAKING: The Interior Dept just used a fake “energy emergency” to greenlight gas and mining projects on public lands. It’s a lie. There is no energy emergency. This is a giveaway to big oil.

I just don't know what to say. This makes me sad, scared and angry all at the same time.

Will DOGE reject funding for the Defense Secretary’s new state-of-the-art makeup studio? Or will they protect the Fox Newsification of our government while Trump ravages the great programmatic achievements of democracy, like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid?
