NFU mischaracterises Beaver populations as legal or illegal. Once in the wild, by whatever means, Beavers are wild animals protected under the Habitat Regulations. All populations are "legal." This rhetoric could lead to farmers illegally shooting Beavers. www.farminguk.com/news/nfu-cal...

Loving how this stray cat just turned up and gave himself a job helping to train the guide dogs

The UK should be "supporting" Zelenskyy and not "fawning over Putin", Sir Keir Starmer tells Nigel Farage 👏

Just announced: The UK will supply Ukraine with more than 5000 air defence missiles to keep people and infrastructure safe from attack. The deal delivers on the UK’s commitment to Ukraine and will create hundreds of jobs here in the UK. 🇬🇧🇺🇦

For those of you who've flown what was once the lovely Twitter nest. 👇

Important to take the week as a whole. Statement from Dominic Grieve:

I guess he can just declassify them all now & hand them out like party favors.

Vance blew up that meeting on purpose

JD Vance is embarrassingly unqualified to sit at the table for any kind of diplomacy

For two men who have professed such hostility towards taking the knee, they are surprisingly happy to do it for Putin, in the Oval Office, in full view of the world’s media.

And just to be clear about Trump’s litigation efforts against us over the ‘Dossier’. He also tried to sue me and Orbis in his home state of Florida, under a US civil RICO statute in 2021. The case was dismissed with prejudice by the judge.Trump has launched an appeal but he’s certain to lose again.

Why there’s no point talking to Putin: The Institute of War says Putin and senior Russian officials are continuing to reject US negotiating terms and are demanding that Ukraine surrender territory that Russia does not occupy.

Beavers. It is great to see these sorts of things getting approved by Labour. They will make a real difference to our country side! Licenses for releasing beavers in to the wild can now be given out, alongside plans for managing existing wild beaver populations. www.gov.uk/government/p...

Important clarification to the clarification

This is big. Far-right troll site Guido Fawkes has always claimed it isn't subject to UK libel law as it's officially offshore. Today it conceded that it defamed Dale Vince, making clear it it's subject to UK law. No more dodging scrutiny. Staines will have to play by the rules like the rest of us.

Weird, eh? His master’s call? Trump Dismantles Government Fight Against Foreign Influence Operations Dozens of employees who had been working to fight foreign interference in US elections have been reassigned or forced out, according to current and former officials www.nytimes.com/2025/02/20/b...

Romanian police have arrested Far Right pro-Putin presidential candidate Calin Georgescu. He’s on his way to the Prosecutor General's Office for questioning. Romanians not taking Russian interference in their elections lying down.

Did Elon Musk really just say "one of the things we accidentally cancelled was Ebola prevention”?? Heaven help America

Breaking A federal judge will NOT pause his order giving the Trump admin a deadline of 11:59 p.m. tonight to pay all invoices for foreign development funds for contracts completed before Feb. 13. Doc https://buff.ly/3EWALvP

Trump to his base: "I've signed executive orders to recognise only two sexes and have scrapped DEI policies. But I will NOT be told that I can't have bearded belly dancers entertaining me and Benjamin Netanyahu on the beach at my Trump Gaza resort."

Very satisfying to see the GBeebies Farage pom-pom shakers put back in their box. But now go back and see which schoolboys are giggling with delight. Harry Cole of The Sun and... Chris Mason of the BBC.

UPDATE: The charges against her have been dropped “in the interest of justice” (she bit one of the brownshirts that assaulted her) and the private security firm has lost their license to operate. I hope she sues them into oblivion.

Looks like not a single one of Reform UK's five MPs made it into the Commons for David Lammy's update on a momentous week for Ukraine. (Two of them were present for the UQ on electric cars minutes before, but then left the chamber).

French President Emmanuel Macron says US and Ukraine should be compensated by Russia, not by Ukraine. Russia started the war 👏

Fact-checked live. The toxic wotsit ain't gonna like that.

What do the following countries have in common ? They all voted against an Ukraine UN resolution to brand Russia the aggressor in the conflict. Judge them by the company they keep.

Fishermen in 2016: "We're really pissed off and Farage says he's going to sort it all out, so we're voting Brexit." Fishermen in 2025: "Shit. We made a huge mistake. Huge." Farmers in 2025: "We're really pissed off and Farage says he's going to sort it all out, so we're voting Reform." 🙄

And another way the Reform Party will damage the economy, as they want to get rid of anything Green, why anyone would vote for a party that will make them poorer I don't know. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Merz was a real transatlanticist, on the very pro-American end of the German political spectrum

JUST IN: MSPB member Cathy Harris, who's suiing over Trump's attempt to fire her from a position overseeing civil service disputes, lines up #SCOTUS litigator Neal Katyal for likely high court fight

"See you in court." A more meaningful, more powerful constitutional maxim than "We are the federal law".

The government's breakfast club scheme is about to get going from April as the 750 schools in the early adopter phase are set to be announced. The schools will cover all 9 English regions, and include schools of different sizes and some which don't currently offer breakfast clubs. 1/2

Please share this fact sheet on Ukraine with anyone who needs it understandingwar.org/backgrounder...

Donald Trump calls MSNBC “a threat to democracy.” Then launches into a tirade against Rachel Maddow. Suggests he “should go up in ratings against her.”

This was published last October www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

Cuckooing (using a vulnerable person's home to carry out crime) Child criminal exploitation (using children to commit crimes on your behalf) Both are set to be made new criminal offenses when the government introduced the new Crime and Policing bill to parliament next week. 1/2

In which Trump and cronies discover that just nobbling the prosecution may sometimes not be enough to fix the outcome of a criminal case.

Brava, Janet Mills, Governor of the great state of Maine. Stay salty! 💪🇺🇸

Having failed to exclude Zelenskyy, they sought to bully him. Having failed to bully him, they sought to bribe him. Having failed to bribe him, they sought to discredit him. Maybe they will get round him one way or another, but you can see how frustrated they are at him holding on.

Did you know, the record number of birds found in one nest box was 61 Wrens? 👀 They are very small, but that's still a lot of Wrens! Do you have a nest box? Who would be your dream birdy tenants? #ThoughtfulThursday

You can put Telegraph in the same bracket as the Morning Star when it comes to prioritising the interests of foreign authoritarian regimes over British and European interests

Kamala was right. And it only took him less than 30 days to roll over for Putin.

GOOD news! RSPB Geltsdale has secured even more vital habitat for wildlife, forever. 💚 That means space for Red Squirrels, Ring Ouzels, Hen Harriers & more to flourish, healthier rivers for Otters & amphibians, and farmland buzzing with life... www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happen...

If Zelensky actually was a dictator Donald Trump would be his best friend.

As the US sits around the table with Lavrov (sanctioned by the Biden) the Russian attacks on civilians in Kyiv haven’t stopped. The Trump administration didn’t even get a cessation in drone attacks in exchange for the PR coup of talks and bringing the regime in from the cold.

I welcome the agreement on our 16th package of sanctions. The EU is clamping down even harder on circumvention by targeting more vessels in Putin’s shadow fleet and imposing new import and export bans. We are committed to keep up the pressure on the Kremlin.

Big picture: day by day, it’s clearer that the Trump presidency is determined to cling ever closer to Russian propaganda and strategic positions. Day by day, the question as to how European leaders intend to respond, if indeed they do so, becomes ever more pressing and acute.

This is a breath-taking give-away by Rubio. And is not being paid sufficient attention.
