Great question, Cal. I feel plot outlines aren't like sacred contracts. They're more like roadmaps. Authors know where they're starting, and where they'd like to wind up. A chosen path can get rerouted. Storytelling uses detours, too. #writing

I loved Dune and Conclave. Nickel Boys was great but it was missing something for me. The Substance had great individual performances and an interesting premise, but I thought pacing was all over the place and it didn’t really stick the landing.

Dropping citations is how I know news stories makes a good theme for you 🤣 So i guess the cards would represent people/concepts you're putting in place, and stories you're choosing to cover? Somewhat of a tableau deconstruction game as people / income leave your company in outrage?

Not bending the knee or kissing the ring was inspirational. Trying to intimidate and belittle showed where the weakness of character actually lies. Bring on the guillotine.

I’ll say try to enjoy it for what it is. Even the central plot is actually not revealed until the end of the first book and I think the mystery propels it much further than the “here’s the deal you guys” speech the show starts with.

Frame stories or episodic story structure (I'm not sure which you're using, maybe something else?) are tried- and true plot structures for novels, so go for it!
