Absolutely. How can we say we believe all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, if we wish misfortune and suffering on those who voted differently from us? These are opportunities for teaching. A time to show more citizens what’s at stake and build movements.

my dad was a diabetic who was uninsured for most of his adult life and often couldn’t get the meds and treatments he needed to control his disease. we never voted the same way. but that doesn’t mean he deserved to die at 67. some of you sound just as broken as the people you want to beat.

I appreciated this thread showing how to use privilege to fight racism in the moment. We never know when the call will come.

This is some top-tier malicious compliance!

Running thread of people trying to normalize the sieg heil. It's not an "Elon gesture", it's not autism, it's not your heart going out, it's not parody or trolling. It's fucking despicable. Don't ever let this shit become normal. Fuck any excuse given, there is none. Zero tolerance. 1. Elon Musk

“Operation Whirlwind” What’s Happening Now? In 2025, Operation Whirlwind was launched under Interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin to investigate alleged threats against employees of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

I often think back at this video from Derek Sivers: "The first follower transforms a lone nut into a leader." This has been true so many times in my experience. If you haven't watched this video yet, it's well worth your time, it's only 3 minutes. youtu.be/fW8amMCVAJQ

Please please PLEASE request books from your local libraries! Those are some of our most important sales as authors!

I went to see a really good band tonight. Great musicians. Right up until they played Dixie for their closing number. "This one's for two of my great-great grandfathers." I walked out.

Anyway, here's Sugar the cat contemplating the impermanence of life and the very nature of existence, as one does

Absolutely! And the more that adults can delight in kids’ creations and let them draw/play/whatever, the better. Judgment is the talent killer.

i think half of "talent" is just a person happening to have fun doing whatever it is they're supposedly talented at, and not hating it. i was "talented" at art at age 3 but if i'd stopped drawing at age 3 because i found it tedious or unrewarding, i'd probably pretty much draw like a 3-year-old now

I realized it has been 10 years since I wrote the first draft proposal for "Pragmatic use of MIDI for Multi-Dimensional Polyphonic Expression", now known as MPE. I'm so happy that with the efforts of so many people, #MPE is now becoming quite widespread, opening the way for #MIDI 2.0.

It's pretty cool that Eater put together resources for restaurants about how to handle ICE raids

This is quite significant in many ways: the overt thuggery, Trump’s barely suppressed fury at being contradicted by a woman, the governor’s standing up, the total abandonment of the pretense of federalism, the continuing use of trans Americans the way Hitler used Jews.

Judith Butler: "Once you decide that a single vulnerable minority can be sacrificed, you’re operating within a fascist logic, because that means there might be a second one you’re willing to sacrifice, and a third, a fourth, and then what happens?"

We are closely monitoring bird flu in Boston. The current risk to the public remains low. There have been zero human cases of bird flu among Boston residents. Avoid human or pet exposure to sick or dead animals. Report sick, injured, or dead wild birds to mass.gov/reportbirds.

Listen to Howie! His kid and our kids played together when we lived on the Left Coast 20 years ago. I know Howie and he knows what he’s talking about when it comes to retail!

I'm seeing a 2/28 "protest" being shared to not "buy anything" for one day from big corporations like Target, Amazon, Walmart, etc., and I'm trying to understand what impact this is going for. I've worked in retail (stores and corporate) my whole life and not sure I'd care about 1 day. 1/2

fact check: since congestion pricing started, subway crime is down 36%.

We don't have billions in federal subsidies to blow, but I hope you'll join me in doing what we can to keep Elon Musk from swiping the most important state supreme court race of 2025.

Last night, Trump promised he wouldn't touch Medicaid. This morning, Trump endorsed the House Republican plan to slash Medicaid. It's smoke and mirrors: Trump and Republicans are plotting to take away health care from millions of people to pay for tax breaks for billionaires.

Trump’s tariffs are yet another scam — taking a higher percentage out of the paychecks of working people than out of the wealthy. Trump even suggested he would use the revenue to “offset” more tax cuts for the rich and big corporations.

For people wondering when the right began falling in love with Putin: It was after the passage of the first anti-gay law in Russia in 2013. That was the moment GOP elected officials and rightwing Christian grifters started showing up on Fox to heap praise Putin. www.theguardian.com/world/2013/j...
