There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers. Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

But $1 trillion in tax would have crashed economy ( /sarc). Last I checked 9.6 > 1. It may not be that simple but compare the last 50 years of productivity gains to how the benefits of those gains have been distributed. ‘Ownership’ isn’t possible without social cohesion.

So much this. White collar crimes tears at the social fabric and in reality simply outsources the violence to the state and other institutions: evictions, loss of medical care, loss of pensions; both physical and mental harms.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

Almost out of nowhere I'm seeing the narrative pushing property taxes are you 'renting from the government'. Correlation isn't causation and neither is timing, but didn't private equity start buying up homes everywhere, contributing to the expense of both housing and rent? 1/2

One bad effects of so much Superhero 'art' and the long Marvel arc is it planted the seed that people can mostly wait to be saved, someone else will do it. Art affects society. ( @swardley.bsky.social ) No one is coming to save society. We have to do it ourselves. 1/2
