Even struggling with alexithymia (I'm pretty sure) I get the concept, but I feel like the more I pay attention the longer it lingers. Is there some amount of time that I'm supposed to sit with my physical and emotional feeling? It rather feels like holding on. Anyone else struggle with this?

Walmart will eat the tariffs the minute they start paying their employees living wages.

Short of an agreement to "never touch AI" what other paths can you see to protect your peers and the quality of work? When record companies resisted MP3's, iTunes took over. I certainly don't want to see that for independent journalism.

I would love to see a lot more employee owned companies that take these efficiencies and pour them back into the people instead of shareholders (mostly C-team execs). If the system doesn't serve the people and it doesn't serve the environment, who is it really serving?

I'm not saying we should accept AI slop. If the AI in your industry doesn't help produce quality work at faster speeds you should be able to compete with quality like fast food vs fine dining or craft made vs factory produced. If the market doesn't have demand for high end, another capitalism issue.

IMO the issue is capitalism, not AI. There is no capitalistic reality where people turn away from tools that help them be more productive, and to do so is not only career death, but holding ourselves back as well. Unregulated corporate (and private) profits will lead here no matter the tool.

Any time there's a cop behaving badly video featuring a female police officer the comments are full of people who scream about how women shouldn't be police 😑🙄🙄

How has "please don't assault, murder, and rape people" been translated to "you're bad"? Sounds more like an admission of guilt from the ones trying to tell you that's what "the left" is saying.

This is what I was thinking when I read the headline. We have to be proactive about telling the algorithms what not to do and with a lack of diversity in the development world people aren't thinking about these outcomes.

Are you going to give yourself permission to rest and actually enjoy it?

maybe the tiny minority in our coalition we can easily sacrifice without damaging our broader project is actually transphobes

My take is that vibe coding includes not knowing your code. You just keep asking the agent to update until it works the way you want. Done right AI assisted coding feels more like paired programming to me. Augmented Development doesn't really do better than "AI assisted...". Synthetic development? 🤔

My rage, my sadness, my broken heart cannot fit on a sign, on a page, or in a single post. So I joined millions of people across the country today and I took a stand, and I will keep showing up until everyone is protected.

I protest against the erosion of the separation of church and state. I protest against unconstitutional detention and deportation of people with no due process. I protest because I want to be able to tell my son that I stood up and tried to leave him a world possible to survive in.

I protest the erasure of women and minorities from our history books. I protest tax cuts for billionaires while cutting the safety net for the working class. I protest the gutting of environmental regulations that allow the rich to "lease" and destroy our national forests.

Mr Kennedy wouldn't know real science if it slapped him in the face with a bag of heroin.
